Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Labor & Employment Attorney with 2+ years of experience to join a nationally recognized Labor & Employment practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney seeking sophisticated employment litigation work within a collaborative national practice while enjoying a more predictable schedule, reduced billable expectations, and an outstanding work-life balance.

The ideal candidate will have employment litigation experience and enjoy working closely with experienced attorneys representing employers across a broad range of industries. This is a non-partnership track position with meaningful work, competitive compensation, and no business development expectations.

Location
  • Columbus, OH
Responsibilities
  • Represent employers in employment litigation matters in state and federal courts.
  • Manage litigation matters through all phases, including:
    • Case evaluation
    • Pleadings
    • Discovery
    • Motion practice
    • Trial preparation
  • Assist with traditional labor matters involving both public and private sector employers.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices on sophisticated labor and employment matters.
  • Communicate directly with clients and provide practical legal guidance.
  • Work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active admission to the Ohio Bar.
  • 2+ years of labor and employment law experience.
  • Experience handling employment litigation matters.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage matters independently while working effectively within a team.
