Job description

Overview

The HVAC Sales Representative plays a key role in driving the growth and profitability of our service business. This role is focused on building new customer relationships, selling renewable maintenance agreements, and positioning our company as the trusted partner of choice in the Columbus market.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, target, and qualify new customer prospects through disciplined sales processes, networking, and market awareness
  • Schedule and conduct sales appointments with prospective clients
  • Build and maintain a referral network to expand market reach
  • Conduct needs-based sales calls with facility leaders to identify HVAC and controls challenges
  • Propose tailored solutions that emphasize renewable maintenance agreements, digital service offerings, sustainability, and decarbonization
  • Present, finalize, and secure customer agreements while ensuring smooth onboarding and kick-off meetings
  • Maintain and extend service agreements, creating pull-through opportunities and supporting the collections process
  • Collaborate with management and service teams to deliver exceptional customer experience
  • Develop and execute territory-specific marketing plans aligned with company strategy
  • Track and report sales progress using CRM tools (e.g., BuildOps)


Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of progressive sales experience (HVAC or plumbing service sales preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of building HVAC systems
  • Proven ability to sell service and maintenance solutions
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills for both individuals and groups
  • Exposure to sales methodologies and structured sales processes
  • High attention to detail with technical aptitude
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work in a field-based, multi-site environment


Behavioral & Technical Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Solid math skills (rate, ratio, percentage, graphs)
  • Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Mental stamina for fast-paced, field-based sales work


Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Daily work in a field environment, visiting multiple customer sites
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and crawling
  • Regular lifting/moving of up to 25 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
