Job description

Description The Westerville Parks Maintenance Division is seeking applicants to fill our summer seasonal positions. This position performs seasonal park maintenance duties including equipment operation tasks; related work as required, and some work may be done unsupervised. This position will have multiple shifts available including weekends and/or 2nd shift possibilities with the ability to adjust schedule when watering is not required.

SUPERVISION Work is performed under the general direction of the Parks Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK (May not include all duties performed.) Performs landscaping maintenance including but not limited to: mowing, trimming, cleaning, clearing, planting,watering, sweeping and painting. Attends all assigned meetings and informs supervisors of suggestions and comments that could better the parks and recreation operation

Carries out any assigned responsibilities relating to the City of Westerville Parks and Recreation Department as directed by supervisors. Cleans and maintains equipment and reports problems to supervisor. Required to work in a variety of adverse weather conditions.

Waters annual fl owers when conditionsrequire. Performs other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF WORK Valid Ohio Driver's License.

Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to develop a working knowledge of the current methods, materials, practices and tools used in the exterior maintenance of parks and recreation facilities. Ability to learn applicable safety practices.

Ability to exercise good judgment and function within broad guidelines. Ability to present ideas and recommendations in a clear, concise manner. Ability to work effectively with other City personnel and the public.

Ability to operate department spray truck for watering.
