Job description

At Converse Electric, we believe the best way to learn is by doing. This internship provides meaningful, hands-on experience, not just observation. You'll contribute to real projects, support multiple departments, and gain exposure to the day-to-day operations of a successful electrical contractor while building professional skills that will benefit your future career in the construction industry.

This is a temporary, four to six (4-6) month internship designed to provide hands-on experience in the business operations of an electrical contracting company. You will work alongside experienced professionals across multiple departments, including Operations, Accounting, Human Resources, Estimating, and Project Management, gaining practical knowledge and real-world experience in a fast-paced construction environment. This internship is intended to provide meaningful work experience while helping develop professional skills, explore career paths, and build a strong foundation for future opportunities within the construction industry.

What You'll Do

Cross Department Administrative Support

Provide administrative and organizational support across multiple departments, including Operations, Accounting, Human Resources, Estimating, and Project Management. Assist with a variety of day-to-day office tasks that help each department operate efficiently. Adapt to changing priorities while supporting special projects and company initiatives.

Operations & Technology Support

Support the Operations Manager with daily operational activities, warehouse coordination, technology initiatives, administrative projects, and company safety programs. Assist with organizing documentation, supporting software implementations, and completing a variety of operational tasks that contribute to the success of both the office and field teams.

Accounting & Financial Administration

Learn how accounting processes support project success while ensuring documentation remains organized and accurate.

Human Resources & Employee Support

Assist the Human Resources team with company communications, safety initiatives, and employee engagement activities.

Estimating & Project Support

Support the Estimating and Project Management teams by assisting with project materials. Develop an understanding of how projects are estimated, awarded, managed, and successfully completed.

Communication & Collaboration

Build strong working relationships across all departments while providing exceptional internal customer service. Communicate professionally with employees, managers, and business partners while maintaining confidentiality, demonstrating attention to detail, and contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting, Project Management, or a related construction field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to learn new technology and software systems quickly.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and support multiple departments.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong customer service mindset with a desire to help others succeed.

Preferred Qualification

  • Previous office, administrative, customer service, or internship experience.
  • Interest in the construction, engineering, or electrical contracting industry.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Business software platforms
