Job description

We are looking for a Infection Preventionist to join our collaborative team at Memorial Health!
What you'll do:
  • Develops and trains qualified and competent staff in infection prevention and control; assures hospital compliance with accrediting body and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) standards and actively supports survey initiatives; supports Director in developing processes to improve overall care and satisfaction.
  • Responsible for Infection Control and epidemiology functions for the hospital; acts as an Infection Control resource for associated nursing center and off-site facilities; writes, reviews and distributes both general Infection Control policies for the hospital as well as department specific Infection Control policies; provides Infection Control surveillance and reports findings and results as needed; provides counseling and education relating to Infection Control as needed; directs the hospital Infection Control Committee; reviews sterilization and disinfection technique and recommends changes as needed; oversees environmental monitoring and issues as related to Infection Control; oversees outbreak and isolation management; ensures compliance with required Infection Control regulatory issues and guidelines; drives initiatives in support of accrediting body compliance.
  • Supports quality initiatives such as Hand Hygiene compliance, surgical site surveillance, and Centers for Disease Control's (CDC's) National Health Safety Network (NHSN) reporting; participates in rounding activities and on-site construction planning.
  • Supports Manager in analysis and planning of budget for capital needs; provides backup for laboratory needs.
  • Works flexible hours to adequately staff department.

  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
  • Attends all mandatory education and in-services (i.e., team training, safety, infection control, etc.); completes mandatory health requirements.
  • Employee performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital's and department's Ethics and Compliance program and is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, or upward through the chain of command, the Compliance Officer, or the hospital hotline.

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) and current Ohio RN license or Bachelors of Science degree (BS) and Medical Technologist (MT) certification; demonstrated leadership skills are required; experience in infection control or microbiology is preferred.
Licensed as an RN in the state of Ohio or certified as MT with American Society for Clinical Pathology. CIC (Certification in Infection Control) and/or a-IPC (Associate-Infection Prevention and Control) preferred or able to obtain within the 1st year of employment.
