Job Summary

The Manager of Infection Prevention and Control, assist the executive director in everyday activities of the department, trainnew staff, help performing competencies to current staff, policies update and revision, work with the director on ensuringorganization is in compliance with JC, CMS, DPH and other accreditors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Interacts with physicians, nurses, department managers, supervisors, occupational health, and other professional/nonprofessional
    staff members to provide resource information, resolve infection control problems, and identify new opportunitiesto improve service, ensure patient safety, and reduce costs.
  • Coordinates and enforces effectual policies and procedures for the department and hospital that ensures compliance withTJC, OSHA, CDC, CMS, and other county, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Directs and assists in ensuring infection reports and statistical data for the infection control committee, medical staffcommittees, and the facility's administration and other committees as needed, is up to date.
  • Provides education and remediating when appropriate on topics related to infection control.
  • Makes recommendations utilizing the Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) process regarding construction, renovation,environmental rounds, and assures compliance with national and/or professional standards.
  • The Infection Prevention and Control Manager is responsible for the daily management of the infection prevention andcontrol department under the direction of the department director this to include; train new staff, help performingcompetencies to current staff, policies update and revision, education of hospital personnel, clinical and medical schools'orientation, consultation with the organization and county and state health departments. The responsibilities encompasscompliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, CMS, OSHA, CDC, state regulations, and outbreak investigation.
  • Oversee the application of information technology and management systems and assures maintenance of these systems tosupport surveillance programs.
  • Coordinates the infection control program throughout the facility. Implements the program by formulating, establishing, andevaluating policies and procedures relating to patient care infection control measures throughout the facility.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Science, Health or related fieldrequired
  • Masters in Public Healthpreferred

Experience

  • Five (5) or more years' clinical experience or disease surveillance experience in a hospital settingrequired
  • Demonstrated knowledge of microbiology and infectious diseases with an in-depth understanding of the principles of epidemiology and biostatistics
  • Knowledge of the CDC, NHSN, DPH and Joint Commission regulations/standards.

Skills/Cert/Licenses

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC)requiredprior to hire
  • MGNT-Certified in Infection Control - CBICE - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, inc. is obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Registered Professional Nurse - Georgia Secretary Of State
