Certified Surgical Technologist - CVOR (Travel)
Location: Columbus, OH
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 4×10 Days (2×8 + 2×12 variable shifts)
Pay: $2,490/week
Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Position Overview
ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience for a 13-week travel assignment in Columbus, Ohio. This role supports high-acuity cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgical cases in a Level I Trauma environment.
Shift times vary between 6:30 AM and 11:00 PM depending on daily OR needs. Call is required, and schedules will be adjusted to meet operational demands. Candidates must be highly experienced, flexible, and able to function independently in a fast-paced CVOR setting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Scrub for complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures including CABG, EVAR, TEVAR, valve replacements, aortic repairs, and VAD procedures.
  • Assist surgeons during high-acuity vascular and thoracic cases, maintaining strict aseptic technique at all times.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot specialized CVOR equipment including cell savers, fiber-optic systems, drills, scopes, and electrosurgical units.
  • Prepare instrumentation, case carts, and sterile fields for cardiac, vascular, and general OR procedures.
  • Handle and pass instruments safely while anticipating surgeon needs throughout procedures.
  • Assist in reprocessing and care of cardiovascular/thoracic instruments and scopes.
  • Manage documentation in Epic and ensure proper equipment, specimen, and implant tracking.
  • Collaborate with OR nurses, anesthesia, perfusionists, and surgical teams to support efficient, safe patient care.
  • Maintain readiness for emergent cases including trauma, cardiac emergencies, and crash-cart responses.
  • Complete 80 hours of required orientation and meet all compliance timelines including urgent fingerprinting requirements.

Qualifications
  • Active CST certification (required).
  • Minimum 5+ years total CST experience (required).
  • Minimum 2+ years in cardiac and vascular cases (required).
  • Minimum 1 year CVOR experience (required).
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a Level I Trauma facility (required).
  • Experience with cardiovascular/thoracic instrument care and reprocessing (required).
  • BLS certification (required).
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and advanced CVOR workflows.
  • Proficiency in Epic charting (required).
  • Must be flexible with schedule between 6:30 AM and 11:00 PM, including call rotation.
  • RTO must be submitted at time of submission; limited RTO allowed.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed immediately upon contract signing (strict Ohio requirement).
  • Two professional references required (one must be leadership).
  • Locals accepted at same rate.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
