Job description

Position: Controls Engineer

Employment Type:ย Full-Time

Hours: M-F



Travel & Work Details

  • Travel Requirement:ย ~ 35%
  • Travel Hours:ย 7:30 AM โ€“ 5:30 PM

Must-Haves

  • Associate degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing
  • Allen Bradley PLC experience

Plusses:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering
  • Siemens PLC experience

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Design, coordinate, and execute electrical and automation projects for ADS Manufacturing
  • Lead electrical upgrades and new installations
  • Provide technical support to ADS facilities (onsite and remote)
  • Identify automation opportunities (robotics, data collection, energy savings, efficiency, safety)
  • Ensure automated systems meet production needs
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Plant Services, Maintenance, and Production teams

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design electrical enclosures, sub-panel layouts, and wiring diagrams per UL/CUL/CSA and NFPA79 standards
  • Review designs from other engineers
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on panels and equipment
  • Maintain accurate software, programs, drawings, and files
  • Develop and review electrical panel designs
  • Write PLC, HMI, and drive programs (expert-level PLC programming)
  • Provide startup training for operators and maintenance teams
  • Create bills of materials
  • Travel within US and Canada (~35%)
  • Provide local and remote plant support
  • Lead acceptance testing and debugging of OEM equipment
  • Manage installation contractors and mentor other Controls Engineers

Required Skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical components, AC/DC motors/drives, and PLCs
