Job Description SummaryThe Automation Reliability Controls Technician assists plant engineering groups with the development, implementation, and validation of manufacturing improvements related safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Advises and supports projects as assigned. Troubleshoots PLC programming issues as they arise in existing production equipment and develops new PLC programming for process and equipment design improvements. Updates schematics, drawings, and documentation during project execution. Researches and deploys solutions to controls obsolescence and reliability issues. Trains and mentors peers and other technical resources on controls knowledge and skills. Complies with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Complies with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles and engineering best practices.Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Support and lead new equipment design and improvements to automation processes. This will include root cause analysis, PLC programming, electrical design,componentselection, schematic modification, andassistingin validation activities.

  • Programming,maintaining, and troubleshooting existing plant PLCs.

  • Assist maintenance personnel and engineering with troubleshooting and repairing equipment in breakdown situations to ensure productionefficiencies areachieved.

  • Work with internal/external groups asrequiredtocompleteprojectassignments.Assignments will include group projects as well as individual projects.

  • Electrical and electronic troubleshooting.

  • Maintainand develop machine vision quality systems used inpartmeasurement and identification.

  • Coordinate and communicate assigned projects and their status with theappropriate personneland departments.

  • Assist with documentation and training of technical personnel to ensure adequatesupportcapabilities.

  • Address controls obsolescence and reliability issues through planning, research, and deployment of new components and technology.

  • Maintainup-to-date familiarity with new processes, developments, technology, andmethodologythrough research,literatureand training.

  • Comply withall local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations.

  • Comply withall local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

  • Support the Controls Coordinator & Process Engineers inimplementationof process improvementsin the area ofmechanical & electrical systems, programming, and Vision Systems.

  • Electrical and Pneumatic Machine Design and programming.

  • Perform new equipment installation as directed.

  • Support Plant initiatives in Vision Inspection technology and implementation.

  • Coordinate Continuous Improvement efforts with Process Engineers to enhance processes.

  • Technical development of themanufacturingGlobal Technicians.

  • Project management for medium or smaller projects.

  • Execute IOQ validation protocols for Controls Systems and Vision Systems, and new equipment installations and process improvements as directed.

  • Assistindevelopmentof machine settings and validated parameters for equipment.

  • Assistinidentifyingfuture and current machinecomponentand system risks.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirement:

  • High School Diploma/GED:Required

  • Associate's Degree: Required - Automation and Electrical Technology, Manufacturing EngineeringTechnologyor similar discipline

  • 2 years electrical mechanical systems, general controls, programming experience working with automated assembly and packaging equipment for high volume production and inspection.

  • Minimum 10 years' experience without a degree.

Preferredqualifications include:

  • Electrical Mechanical Technologyor related field

  • 3 years of manufacturing experience in a highly automated environment preferred
