About the Role

The Cloud Platform Engineer designs, builds, and enhances Sunwest Bank's cloud platforms, with Azure as the primary enterprise cloud and AWS supporting select initiatives. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building foundational cloud capabilities, including Infrastructure as Code, landing zone architecture, automation, and CI/CD pipelines. Working closely with Product and Engineering teams, you will enable the secure and efficient delivery of technology solutions while supporting banking security and regulatory requirements.

What Youโ€™ll Do

Cloud Platform amp; Automation

  • Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using Azure, Terraform, and Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Develop automation, CI/CD pipelines, and self-service platform capabilities to improve delivery speed and consistency.
  • Migrate and modernize cloud resources to support scalable, repeatable deployments.

Cloud Operations amp; Security

  • Design, deploy, and support secure Azure infrastructure, including networking, identity, Kubernetes, monitoring, and disaster recovery.
  • Implement governance, security controls, and cost management practices that align with regulatory requirements.

Platform Engineering amp; Collaboration

  • Support AWS environments for select business initiatives.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Security teams to remove infrastructure bottlenecks and improve developer experience.
  • Support audits, access reviews, compliance activities, and operational change management processes.
What Weโ€™re Looking For(Required)
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
  • Infrastructure as Code

    • Hands-on experience building and managing production cloud infrastructure with Terraform, including modular design, state management, and deployment workflows.

    Cloud Platform Engineering

    • 5+ years of infrastructure engineering experience, including 3+ years working with Azure in production environments.
    • Experience with Azure governance, networking, identity, and security services.
    • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, automation, and platform operations.

    Containers amp; Automation

    • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads (AKS preferred).
    • Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
    • Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages.

    Compliance amp; Operations

    • Experience supporting regulated environments and working within established change management, security, and audit processes.

  • Experience with AWS services such as VPC, IAM, EC2, EKS, or related cloud technologies.
  • Experience with Azure data and analytics platforms, including Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, OneLake, or Power BI infrastructure.
  • Industry certifications such as Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305), Terraform Associate, or AWS certifications.
  • Experience building platform engineering, developer self-service, or cloud automation capabilities.
