Job description

Position Overview
Power your future with Qualus in our Specialized Field Services department as a Senior Field Service Technician. As a Senior Field Service Technician, you'll play a pivotal role in the testing, maintaining, and repairing a wide array of electrical equipment, including low and medium-voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor controls, and more. In this dynamic position, you'll not only provide hands-on technical expertise but also assist in leadership responsibilities, ensuring seamless operations both in the shop and out in the field. This role offers a unique opportunity to showcase your expertise while making a tangible impact in powering industries forward.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical capabilities for testing relays, circuit breakers, transformers, motor control equipment, and related switchgear in the field, including synch check, point-to-point
  • Perform and lead a crew in the field for testing/maintenance/repair of breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor control and associated equipment
  • Ensures proper preparation and documentation for site projects
  • Helps evaluate department talent base, identify training needs, and recommend effective action plans for meeting performance expectations
  • Identifies and secures equipment needs for shop/field
  • Provides daily site summaries for site work in coordination with assigned project manager
  • Provides weekly production status reports to project management, operations managers, and Service Assistant
  • Maintains an understanding of the technical side of company core business needs
  • Attend and contribute to project kickoff meetings
  • Support budget adherence on projects
  • Continuously instructs and trains others
  • Support the sales effort by assisting with labor estimates and job walks when necessary
  • Remain current on all safety and technical training

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3-5 years' related experience in power plants, industrial services, primary power distribution and related protection and control schemes.
  • Minimum 2 years of industrial or commercial power systems experience.
  • Licensures and Certifications: NETA 2 or higher required.
  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Reference and complete assignments as described in applicable specifications.
  • Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, business acumen, management ability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Valid Driver's license and good driving record.
  • Prefer an Associate's degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or an Electrical Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited college, similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee)
