Job description

Our project portfolio includes many complete streets, active transportation, and other multimodal projects in the Northeast region including Safe Streets for All, Transportation Alternatives, Safe Routes to School, numerous trail and greenway projects, and developing Vision Zero solutions on our roadways.  Our mix of clients include state DOTs, municipalities of all sizes, counties, and MPOs. 


We are seeking a Transportation Project Manager with 8+ years of experience planning, designing, and managing linear transportation projects. The position is ideally suited for a candidate with experience in project management of planning and design involving urban streets and roadways, multi-use trails, and other multimodal facilities.  Experience with roadway or highway design involving PennDOT and/or NJDOT is also preferred.  Experience with the City of Philadelphia or other large municipal clients is a plus. 

The position will focus mainly on managing and leading the planning and design of multimodal transportation projects involving corridor studies, complete streets improvements, Vision Zero, public transit, signing and pavement marking, grading, trafc control improvements, and local and state permitting. The individual will also have an opportunity to assist with bicycle and pedestrian planning, including region-wide active transportation plans, corridor master plans and trail routing and feasibility studies.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, assisting our transportation team with the following:  

  • Project Management tasks including scheduling, budgeting, and invoicing
  • Lead and manage projects associated with multimodal, active transportation, and transit-friendly planning, transportation and safety studies, greenway plans, community engagement, visioning, and concept design plans
  • Oversee public outreach activities
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Reviewing designs, report writing, specication development, and permitting
  • Coordination with internal project team members across several regional NV5 ofces and departments, as well as subconsultants, public agencies, clients, participation in project meetings, and assisting other teams in the office as needed.
  • The ideal candidate would possess the skills and desire to assist with business development, including professional networking, meeting with potential clients, and proposal writing, and generally enjoy helping us continue growing a team alongside other dynamic leaders passionate about improving our communities through planning and design.
  • Participation in professional societies like ASCE, WTS, and ITE will be encouraged.

  • P.E. License
  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering
  • At least 8 years with relevant transportation design experience
  • Project management experience
  • Procient in the necessary software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/lnRoads/Open Roads
  • Strong interest in a multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach to design
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities

This is a full-time position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
