Job Description

Job Summary

DPR Construction is seeking a Telecom Superintendent with a minimum of 5 years of telecommunications or commercial construction experience to join our data center division. The Telecom Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the on-site execution of telecommunications projects, ensuring all work performed by subcontractors is installed and maintained in accordance with DPR's and the client's safety, quality, and management standards. This role focuses on data center telecommunications infrastructure, including structured cabling, fiber optics, and low-voltage systems, and requires close coordination with subcontractors, project teams, project managers, schedulers and client representatives to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities

Subcontractor Management: Oversee and hold subcontractors accountable for performance, ensuring adherence to DPR's safety, quality, and scheduling standards. Conduct regular progress reviews and coordinate weekly subcontractor meetings to align on project goals.

Client Support: Support the Project Manager in interactions with client representatives, addressing on-site questions or concerns related to subcontractor work as directed.

Project Execution: Ensure project deadlines are met per client requirements by monitoring subcontractor progress on the installation of including structured cabling, fiber optics, and network connectivity critical to data center operations.

Schedule Oversight: Oversee subcontractor workload and schedules to optimize productivity and ensure timely project completion within budget constraints.

Technical Oversight: Demonstrate detailed technical knowledge of telecommunications systems, oversee subcontractor work to ensure

quality, and address technical issues related to data center infrastructure as they arise.

Safety Leadership: Actively promote safety as the top priority, collaborating with DPR's safety team to monitor and enforce subcontractor compliance with safety standards.

Meetings and Coordination: Lead on-site coordination meetings with subcontractors to align on project goals, timelines, and DPR standards.

Inventory Oversight: Oversee subcontractor material inventory to ensure availability and proper use for project needs.

Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support project and company objectives.

Qualifications

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented leader with the ability to manage subcontractors, ensure quality work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced data center environment. The successful candidate will possess:

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical/construction field, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role overseeing subcontractors. Experience in data center telecommunications infrastructure is preferred.

Education: High School diploma or GED equivalency required.

Technical Skills:

  • High proficiency in interpreting blueprints, specifications, and project documents related to telecommunications and data center infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Physical Network Topologies
  • Experience with Port Maps
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 14763-3 Cabling Standards
  • Experience performing Fiber testing with OTDR/OLTS/VFL testers.
  • Experiencing leading teams in Network, ISP Cabling, OSP Cabling, patching, testing, and inspections.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, MS Project) and familiar with project management and scheduling software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, or similar).

Physical Requirements: Ability to work in indoor and outdoor construction environments, at heights, off ladders, and in confined spaces. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.

Leadership: Proven ability to manage and hold subcontractors accountable, foster a collaborative work environment, and promote DPR's culture and mission to subcontractors, vendors, and clients.

Communication: Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to read, write, and deliver oral presentations effectively.

Organization: Excellent organizational skills to manage subcontractor schedules, project processes, and documentation.

Work Ethic: Self-motivated with a professional demeanor and a strong "can-do" attitude.

The Telecom Superintendent will report to the Field Superintendent and work closely with cross-functional teams and subcontractors to deliver high-quality telecommunications infrastructure for data center project.
