Pay: $70-75/hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Android Developer to join a highly technical team supporting a large-scale Point of Sale (POS) platform used across shopping and dining environments for our client in the Entertainment industry. This team is currently enhancing and modernizing a product that was previously acquired from a third-party vendor and is now being developed and maintained internally.

The ideal candidate will bring strong Android development expertise, experience working with both legacy and modern Android technologies, and the ability to contribute to architectural decisions, coding standards, and best practices. This role requires someone who can operate independently, collaborate effectively with senior engineers, and support critical release activities when needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain Android applications supporting POS and commerce-related systems.
  • Enhance and modernize an existing Android platform while addressing technical debt and product issues.
  • Contribute to clean architecture, scalable design patterns, and engineering best practices.
  • Work across both legacy and modern Android frameworks and technologies.
  • Partner closely with engineering teams to deliver high-quality releases and production support.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, hypercare activities, and issue resolution during critical releases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams while maintaining ownership of assigned work.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of Android development experience.
  • Strong expertise with Android SDK and native Android application development.
  • Experience working with Android 11, Android 13, and other Android platform versions.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and mobile best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Kotlin
    • RxJava
    • XML-based UI development
  • Experience building and maintaining production-grade mobile applications.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Kotlin Coroutines.
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose.
  • POS (Point of Sale) application experience.
  • Experience integrating with hardware devices and peripherals.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code.
  • Background working on high-volume transactional or commerce applications.
