Job description

Akima Global Logistics, LLC (AGL) is seeking a Deputy Project Manager at National Institutes Health (NIH) Bethesda, MD. The Deputy Project Manager supports the Project Manager in planning, executing, and delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget specific to Vertical Conveyance Systems (VCS) Includes elevators, escalators, ADA lifts, dumbwaiters, and material lifts service and repair operations. Acts as the PM's delegate and helps coordinate teams, stakeholders, schedules, and resources.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day project oversight and coordination.
  • Help develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and documentation.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and support mitigation planning.
  • Coordinate communication between teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare status reports and assist with presentations or executive updates.
  • Support resource allocation and workload planning.
  • Facilitate meetings, capture action items, and track follow-through.
  • Ensure project standards, processes, and quality requirements are followed.
  • Step in for the Project Manager when needed to make decisions or lead meetings.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of elevator industry safety hazards and best practices.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations and elevator codes (ASME A17.1/CSA B44).
  • Experience conducting job site inspections and safety training.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze incidents and recommend corrective actions.
    Familiarity with CMMS system and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel).

Desired Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years in project coordination or project management support roles.
  • Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30, PMP, CAPM, CUSP, ECITB, or Vertical Conveyance Systems specific credentials.
