Job description

SkyOne Federal Credit Union is seeking a Business Development Manager to grow membership, deposits, and business banking relationships through a strong external strategy across SEGs, associations, non-profits, and community partners-including expansion of our Cannabis Banking portfolio. You'll lead and develop the Business Development team while ensuring compliant, high-quality execution.

Driving sustainable growth by increasing deposits and new member acquisition through strong external business development strategies, while expanding Business Banking and Cannabis Banking portfolios. Success depends on building and deepening relationships with SEGs, businesses, and community partners, generating new opportunities through proactive prospecting and networking, and strengthening the credit union's brand presence. Equally critical is developing and coaching Business Relationship Managers to achieve sales and service goals, while executing strategies that deepen relationships, increase wallet share, and deliver long-term member value in alignment with organizational objectives.
A TYPICAL DAY AS A BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
This role involves leading external business development efforts by meeting with prospective and existing partners, including SEGs, businesses, and community organizations, to drive new member acquisition and deposit growth. The Business Development Manager actively networks, prospects, and builds relationships to identify new opportunities while working closely with Business Relationship Managers to coach performance and achieve sales and service goals. The day also includes collaborating with internal teams to align strategies, supporting the Director of Sales on key projects, and analyzing performance metrics to refine growth initiatives. Balancing time between field engagement and internal leadership, this role stays focused on expanding key portfolios, strengthening partnerships, and delivering long-term value to members and the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent experience; 3-5 years of management experience in retail delivery or business development
  • Proven experience in community and relationship development
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational abilities
  • Strategic thinker with strong time management and multitasking skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital tools (social media, webinars, chat platforms)
  • Solid understanding of sales principles, financial services, and the credit union industry
  • Knowledge of market trends, economic conditions, and target demographics
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism in handling sensitive information
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and influence others
  • Willingness to travel and actively engage in community and industry organizations
