Job description

The Server Administrator is responsible for maintaining, securing, and supporting the organization's server infrastructure to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of business-critical systems. This role manages Windows server environments, virtualization platforms, backups, and core infrastructure services. Experience with Linux systems is a plus but not required.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server operating systems and related infrastructure.
  • Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core enterprise services.
  • Manage virtual environments using VMware vSphere.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability to ensure optimal operations.
  • Implement server patching, security updates, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Troubleshoot server, storage, operating system, and infrastructure issues.
  • Maintain system documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with network, security, application, and support teams on projects and operational initiatives.
  • Participate in on-call support and after-hours maintenance activities as required. Participates in a 24 x 7 on call rotation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Three or more years of experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and virtualization technologies.
  • Knowledge of server hardware, storage systems, networking fundamentals, and backup solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience administering Linux operating systems such as Red Hat, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, or SUSE.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Knowledge of PowerShell, Bash, or other automation and scripting tools.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as Microsoft, VMware, Red Hat, or CompTIA Server+.
