    Your Role:  

    MilliporeSigma, a business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, is seeking a Sr. Engineer to join Process Solutions Filtration R&D. The role is based at our Bedford, MA campus and centers on Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) technology for next-generation bioprocessing. 

    What you’ll do:

    • Lead technology and product development programs around TFF membranes, modules, materials, devices and integrated filtration solutions for therapeutic biopharmaceutical manufacturing. 
    • Define technical roadmaps, translate unmet customer needs into scalable TFF concepts, and de-risk through lab and pilot-scale studies. 
    • Analyze process bottlenecks, evaluate novel TFF concepts/equipment, and design experiments to optimize flux, selectivity, shear, fouling resistance, and cleaning/sterilization compatibility. 
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Process Development, Applications, Quality, IP, Regulatory, and commercial teams to ensure robust, scalable, and defensible filtration solutions. 
    • Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and risk (e.g., FMEA); provide post-launch support and iterative improvements. 
    • Communicate technical results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders; author technical reports, SOPs, and patent/presentation materials as needed. 
    • Occasional domestic/international travel to support programs and customer engagements. 

    Who You Are

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • B.S. in chemical,mechanical or related engineering plus 5-7+ years experience in a related technical area, or MS plus 3-5+ years, or PhD plus 2+ years  
    • Track record of new product/process development and validation in filtration/bioprocessing.
    • Demonstrated leadership role in project planning and execution with a diverse project team.  
    • Experience in project management, budgeting, risk assessment (e.g. FMEA), validation, and post launch support. 
    • Capable to work collaboratively with different functions within and outside of the company.  
    • Technical expertise in designing and conducting experiments in laboratory or manufacturing setting with good trouble shooting, problem solving and statistical analysis skills. 
    • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate technical information to different parts of the organization. 

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Experience with TFF device design, membrane selection, module integration, and scalable process implementation. 
    • IP assessment, patent review/application/publication/external presentation experience. 

    Role must be based in Bedford, MA

    Pay Range for this position: $116,700- $177,700. The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
