Job description

Build the future, spark innovation and align your career with purpose.
McKinstry is innovating the waste and climate harm out of the built environment and creating lasting impact. Together, we're building a thriving planet
Buildings are a leading contributor to the climate crisis, generating nearly 40% of total global energy-related carbon emissions. We're making a lasting impact on our industry and within our communities by addressing the climate, affordability and equity crises through:
  • renewables and energy services
  • engineering and design
  • Construction and facility services

To get where we're going, we need big thinkers, problem solvers and collaborative mindsets. Does that sound like you?
The Opportunity with McKinstry
McKinstry is looking to add a Senior Project Manager - Change Management to our growing team in Seattle, WA. The Senior Project Manager leads complex, cross-functional enterprise projects from initiation through implementation and adoption. This role is accountable for delivering defined business outcomes by integrating disciplined project management with practical change management, ensuring solutions are not only completed on time, within scope, and within budget, but are also understood, adopted, and sustained by impacted teams. The role partners with business leaders, subject matter experts, technology teams, and executive sponsors to navigate ambiguity, manage risk, and drive successful organizational change. Additional responsibilities include:
Project Leadership and Delivery:
  • Lead multiple complex, enterprise-wide projects from initiation through closure, establishing clear scope, outcomes, governance, plans, milestones, budgets, dependencies, and decision rights.
  • Translate strategic priorities into executable project plans and maintain accountability for delivery, issue resolution, and measurable business outcomes.

Change Management and Adoption:
  • Assess organizational impacts and stakeholder readiness, develop and execute change strategies that drive adoption through stakeholder engagement, communications, training, leadership alignment, and reinforcement.
  • Partner with business owners to define adoption measures, monitor readiness and resistance, and adjust interventions to support sustained behavior and process change.

Stakeholder Leadership and Governance:
  • Build trusted relationships with executive sponsors, business leaders, subject matter experts, and delivery teams; facilitate decisions, surface tradeoffs, and maintain alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Establish clear governance and provide concise, transparent reporting on progress, risks, decisions, financials, readiness, and benefits realization.

Risk, Resource and Dependency Management
  • Identify and actively manage project risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, resource constraints, and competing priorities; escalate appropriately and drive timely mitigation.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources and ensure work is sequenced effectively across teams and functions

Continuous Improvement and Capability Building:
  • Apply and strengthen enterprise project and change management standards, tools, templates, and lessons learned.
  • Coach project team members and business partners in effective planning, execution, stakeholder engagement, and adoption practices.

What you need to Succeed at McKinstry:
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience leading complex projects, programs, implementations, or organizational change initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success delivering cross-functional work in a large, complex, and evolving organization.
  • Experience integrating project management and change management activities across the full project lifecycle.
  • Ability to translate strategy into executable plans, establish governance, and drive outcomes through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Strong capability in stakeholder analysis, change impact and readiness assessment, communication planning, training coordination, adoption measurement, and resistance management.
  • Skilled in managing scope, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, issues, dependencies, vendors, and executive-level reporting.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision-support skills.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, step into projects already underway, quickly establish structure, and restore momentum.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Organizational Change, Communications, Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams; experience with enterprise project management tools preferred.
  • Preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Change management certification such as Prosci, CCMP, or equivalent practical experience.
