Duties:
Network Engineer (Contractor)
The Network Engineering team is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, maintenance, and support of Cardinal Health's enterprise network infrastructure across offices, distribution centers, healthcare facilities, and remote locations. This position requires a highly skilled network engineer with experience supporting Meraki SD-WAN, Aruba routing, switching and wireless technologies, as well as Cisco routing and switching environments. The engineer will be responsible for planning, deploying, configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing network infrastructure while ensuring high levels of availability, performance, reliability, and security. Responsibilities include designing and supporting LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN solutions; performing Layer 1 through Layer 3 troubleshooting; implementing network segmentation and infrastructure upgrades; supporting technology refresh initiatives; and coordinating with internal teams, business partners, telecommunications providers, and technology vendors to resolve issues and successfully deliver projects. This role requires hands-on experience with equipment staging, rack-and-stack activities, cabling coordination, hardware installation, UPS battery backup systems, power infrastructure, and network asset inventory management. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to manage multiple project-based assignments simultaneously, and the capability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accountability and ownership. Candidates should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be comfortable contributing to technical documentation, standards, and best practices, and work effectively as part of a collaborative engineering team. Experience developing innovative solutions to complex networking challenges, supporting large-scale enterprise environments, mentoring team members when appropriate, and maintaining a customer-focused approach to service delivery is highly desired. This position is best suited for a self-motivated engineer who can balance technical expertise, project execution, operational support, and teamwork while consistently delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
