Job description

Take Charge of Your Career at Interstates
At Interstates, we don't just show up to work, we show up for each other. From our headquarters in Iowa to job sites across the country, we're doing award-winning electrical, controls, automation, and OT work that powers industrial facilities for clients here in the U.S. and around the world. Whether you're bending conduit, wiring panels, writing code, supporting projects, or helping things run behind the scenes, you'll be part of a crew that works hard, shares laughs, and takes pride in doing quality work. We believe in building strong teams, doing the right thing, and making a difference in the communities where we live. If you want to grow and do meaningful work, you'll feel at home here.
Project Manager II - Aberdeen, SD
At Interstates, we believe great projects start with great people. We're looking for a Project Manager II who wants more than just managing schedules and budgets - we're looking for a leader who wants ownership, influence, and the opportunity to make a real impact on projects, teams, and clients.
Based out of our Aberdeen, South Dakota office, this role will lead industrial and electrical construction projects from kickoff through completion. You'll work closely with field leadership, clients, and internal teams to drive successful project execution while helping shape the future growth of our Aberdeen operations.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex challenges, and wants to grow their leadership career with a company that values trust, accountability, and collaboration.
Why Interstates?
At Interstates, our success starts with yours.
We are committed to creating opportunities for our people, making a difference with our clients, and pursuing a better way in everything we do. Our teams are built on strong relationships, accessible leadership, and a culture where employees are trusted to lead and grow.
What makes this opportunity unique:
  • Lead meaningful industrial and electrical construction projects with real ownership and visibility
  • Work with a collaborative team that values communication, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Be home most nights - travel is primarily regional day travel with limited overnight stays
  • Grow your leadership career with opportunities for long-term advancement
  • Join a company where your contributions are recognized and your voice matters

Aberdeen offers a strong sense of community, low commute times, and a quality of life that allows our team members to focus on both career growth and personal priorities.
What You'll Do
  • Lead projects from pre-construction through final completion
  • Manage project budgets, forecasting, schedules, and client communication
  • Partner with field leadership to drive execution, safety, productivity, and quality
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams
  • Identify project risks early and proactively solve challenges
  • Support change order management, project documentation, and financial tracking
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Help create efficient project delivery strategies that improve overall project performance

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Technology, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, including leadership of construction or industrial projects
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, scheduling, contracts, and cost control
  • Ability to lead teams, communicate effectively, and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction
  • Comfortable leading conversations with clients, field teams, and leadership

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation for this role ranges from $95,000-$130,000 depending on experience, leadership background, and project expertise.
Interstates offers competitive benefits, career development opportunities, and a culture focused on long-term growth and employee success.
Travel
This role is based out of our Aberdeen, SD office with travel to customer and project sites up to 25% of the time. Most travel consists of regional day trips with very limited overnight travel anticipated.
Ready to Build Something Bigger?
This role is not for someone looking to simply maintain projects. We're looking for a leader who creates clarity, drives accountability, builds trust with clients, and helps teams execute at a high level.
