Job description

Introduction

As an AI Technical co-op, you will specialize in computer science/ software development and/or data science to help our IBM partners deploy and adopt IBM's software portfolio. You will work closely with partners, product managers, and development teams to understand partner business requirements and implement solutions that address complex business challenges with IBM software products with primary focus on watsonx offerings.

With a hands-on approach to installing, coding, demonstrations and communicating, you will be able to showcase IBM solutions as a product SME. You will design and articulate architectures compatible with a partner's technology stack via use-case identification, solution architecture design, and MVP (minimal viable product) builds.

With technical expertise and a consultative style, you'll quickly build credibility as a trusted advisor at all levels with partners and IBM colleagues. To drive expansion and renewal growth, you'll guide leading enterprise companies through AI approaches that realize the full value of their IBM investments.

Your role and responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Understanding an IBM Partner's technical needs: Understand partner primary needs and establish yourself as a trusted technical expert for their migration, deployment, and adoption of IBM's AI and Hybrid Cloud offerings.
  • Developing AI Solutions: Using your engineering skills to code/ build MVPs using python, open source frameworks, RedHat and IBM product portfolio (will learn on the job). These solution demos can also be packaged as assets on a portal created specifically for engaging partners through a Digital channel.
  • Leading Persuasive Technical Conversations: Lead technical discussions that persuade partners to act based on their requirements and the value provided by IBM's solutions.
  • Deploying and Developing Enterprise Applications: Performing hands-on engineering activities to install, develop, train, deploy, configure and run latest IBM AI technologies in a partner's dev or production environment.
  • Contribute to Use Case Exploration and Business Framing: Be a key contributor to use case exploration and business framing workshops, develop client value realization models.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Technical Education: Future B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent technical degree/experience.
  • Client Focused: Asks open-ended questions and understands needs to address business challenges.
  • Tech Savvy: Conversant about technology, latest industry trends and how it is being applied to address business challenges. Hands-on development skills using Python, LLMs and popular GenAI programming frameworks etc.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Possess verbal, written, and interpersonal skills that are engaging, compelling and influential.
  • Self-Motivation and Problem-Solving Aptitude: A natural inclination toward self-motivation and initiative, in addition to the ability to navigate data and people to find answers and present solutions.

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Experience with RedHat OpenShift and Kubernetes.
  • Familiar with user experience design using software applications.
  • Experience with Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Large Language Models.
  • Experience with Generative AI and applications that use Text2SQL and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG).
  • Experience with AI Operations.
  • Experience with Data Engineering techniques and Lakehouse technologies, e.g. Spark, Presto, Hive.
  • Knowledge with Unix including software installs.
