Job Summary:

The Geisinger Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking an adult Cardiothoracic surgeon to join our growing practice at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.

Job Duties:

Geisinger's Heart & Vascular Institute is composed of Adult and Pediatric Cardiothoracic surgery, Vascular surgery and Adult and Pediatric Cardiology.

The Cardiothoracic Surgery department provides clinical services at 3 sites, Danville, Wilkes Barre, and Scranton with dedicated 24 hour, 7 days a week Cardiac Anesthesia and ICU staff. Presently, the Cardiac and Thoracic surgeons and advanced providers perform the full breadth of AdultCardiothoracic surgery. Standard and minimally invasive valvular operations and multiple arterial conduits are the standard for cardiac revascularization.

Geisinger has dedicated Heart Failure and Adult Congenital Heart disease programs throughout the system. The growing Mechanical Circulatory Support and Shock programs have energized our LVAD program which has achieved full independent (Name) certification. Our ECMO program is the largest in the region performing V-V and V-A ECMO cannulations throughout the system and recovered at Geisinger Medical Center. A multi-disciplinary Structural Heart Program performs TAVR and Mitra Clip implantation at all sites.

The successful candidate will be based in Danville, and all surgeons may assist with coverage at other sites throughout the system, as necessary. Broad Cardiothoracic training and experience is required and an interest in minimally invasive, robotic, aortic or mechanical circulatory support is desired.
