Job Summary:

Geisinger's Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the growing cardiology department at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania.

Job Duties:

Geisinger Heart Institute spans a 45-county service area and has over 100 physicians and more than 75 advanced practitioners. This team provides care in 5 acute care tertiary/ quaternary hospitals, 4 community hospitals, and numerous outreach locations, and together performs over 10,000 cardiac procedures annually.

Geisinger Heart Institute features multiple accredited chest pain centers, a nationally recognized regional STEMI PCI network, complex arrhythmia ablation, a full range of coronary, vascular and structural heart interventions and an advanced heart failure program.

The ideal candidate will:

  • 10-hour day shifts are optional

  • Collaborate with the physicians to assess, diagnose, and treat adult cardiac patients referred to the cardiology service

  • Demonstrates autonomy through patient evaluations, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care

  • Manages and assists in the smooth, efficient operations of the inpatient cardiology patient, outpatient cardiology clinic, cardiac labs and outreach cardiology clinics

  • Orders testing as deemed necessary and remains proficient in interpreting results and prescribing appropriate medication regimen within the scope of practice of the nurse practitioner

The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will work in collaboration with the physician and have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners or be eligible to hold national certification that allows the NP to work with the patient populations and location settings associated with this position. Must be eligible for licensure as a nurse practitioner in the state of PA.
