JOB TITLE: BSA Assistant
REPORTS TO: BSA Officer
JOB SUMMARY:
The BSA Assistant supports the BSA Officer in the administration of the Bank's Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), USA PATRIOT Act, and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) compliance programs. Responsibilities include monitoring transactions and accounts for suspicious activity, assisting with regulatory reporting, maintaining records, conducting research, and helping ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Understands government regulations with particular emphasis on the Bank Secrecy Act and related regulations.
• Monitors regulatory updates and assists the BSA Officer in identifying and implementing changes necessary to maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Assists departments in implementing processes necessary to comply with applicable regulations.
• Performs regulatory research in response to business unit compliance inquiries, projects, and regulatory changes, and communicates findings to the BSA Officer and affected departments.
• Assists the BSA Officer in analyzing BSA/AML-related data, reports, and trends to help assess the Bank's compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Performs routine monitoring to determine compliance with applicable regulations, laws, policies, and procedures. Communicates monitoring results to the BSA Officer and appropriate management, follows up to ensure issues are addressed, and escalates concerns as appropriate.
• Assists the BSA Officer with the development, maintenance, and periodic review of BSA/AML policies, procedures, and related documentation.
• Assists in coordinating and administering state and federal regulatory examinations, audits, and reviews.
• Audits and reviews wires and the activity for compliance with BSA/AML requirements and escalates suspicious activity as appropriate.
• Performs OFAC screening reviews.
• Assists the BSA Officer in reviewing and monitoring BSA system alerts.
• Assists with Currency Transaction Report (CTR) preparation and filing.
• Maintains proficient knowledge of the rules and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA Patriot Act, and OFAC.
• Works with specific departments to investigate transactions that are suspicious in nature.
• Assists the BSA Officer in monitors and tracks BSA/AML high-risk customers and accounts.
• Assists the BSA Officer in managing exempt person filings for CTR purposes.
• Maintains BSA/AML records, case files, reports, and supporting documentation in accordance with regulatory retention requirements.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform other duties as required by management.
• Assists other administrative staff in special projects as needed
• Participates on behalf of the Bank in community and Bank-sponsored activities as requested
• Train new and incoming employees, when needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:

• Associate degree in business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
• Two years of professional banking experience such as Teller, Bookkeeping, administrative or lending knowledge is preferred but not necessary

• Good understanding of general banking guidelines; through knowledge of governmental and financial regulations and laws, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.

• Possesses a full understanding of the business objectives of the Bank, as well as extensive knowledge of bank policies and procedures and how they comply with the rules and regulations associated with mortgage lending, deposits, and consumer lending.

• Able to make appropriate judgments based on Bank policy and procedures. Demonstrates commitment to Bank values through leadership and behavior

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is sedentary work that requires the following physical activities:

• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while assisting customers and staff.
• Occasional lifting (up to 10 pounds of computer equipment or paper)

ATTENDENCE REQUIREMENTS
This position works the following time requirements, normally:

• Reporting at 8:00am on Monday through Friday, normally. Could be asked to report as early as 7:00am, when needed
• Working until close of day on Monday through Friday (normally 5:00pm Monday-Thursday and 5:30pm on Friday), when needed. Could be asked to extend day as late as 7:00pm, as needed
• Special projects may require supervisor to request time on a Saturday, when needed

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Normal office environment
• Moderate noise level
