Job description

Job Summary:
Advanced Technology & Research Corporation is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join their Engineering Services Division. The successful applicant will develop hardware systems for ocean sensor data acquisition and work collaboratively with hardware engineers to create complex systems for data measurement.
Responsibilities:
• The successful applicant will join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as software development Engineer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center South Florida Ocean Measurement Facility, (SFOMF) located near Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
• Applicant will work as part of a research, design, test, and evaluation team, who will develop hardware systems to acquire surface & sub-surface ocean sensor data and fused into a coherent picture for monitoring the underwater ocean environment.
• Applicant will design, build, and maintain software systems using engineering principles, focusing on high-level architecture, scalability, and performance.
• As part of the team, the applicant will simultaneously get to work alongside hardware engineers and experts in these fields to help develop complex systems for data acquisition and sensor measurement systems.
• Applicant is expected to produce technical reports, standard operating procedures and presentations.
• The applicant will participate and contribute to the team in developing project plans, test and analysis plans, and for writing and briefing research progress and results to upper management and sponsors.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering
• 3+ years of experience with software development of data measurement systems
• Knowledge of programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, and LabVIEW
• Working knowledge of scientific programming and algorithm development
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary group environment
• Strong technical writing and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate
• Candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation
Preferred:
• Job experience with the Navy or other DoD laboratories is a plus
• Experience with oceanographic and/or underwater signatures data is a plus
• Familiar with noise reduction and signal extraction algorithms
• Current successful background investigation completion is a plus
• Some minimal travel required
