Job description


Job Summary
Manages the estimating effort for projects. Responsible for providing estimating support during bid and proposal and project execution phases. Implements and ensures compliance with technical standards and procedures.
Job Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities
  • Manages and directs work schedules and daily activities for the estimating department.
  • Implements technical estimating standards and procedures.
  • Solicits supplier bids and proposals for labor, material and equipment and evaluates proposals to ensure they meet project specifications and budget requirement.
  • Ensures that project and department milestones and goals are met and adhere to approved budgets.
  • Performs estimating through standard EnergySolutions software.
  • Interfaces with finance department on budget and business plan preparation through email and review meetings.
  • Maintains documentation for all estimating activities
  • Recruits, manages, trains, counsels, evaluates and disciplines department staff.
  • Ensures department personnel are adhering to company policies and are administering practices in a fair and equitable manner through daily supervision.
  • Implements Safety Culture for the department by making attendance at all safety meetings mandatory, ensuring that all staff members are accountable and committed to a safe and accident-free working environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements Education
  • Bachelor's degree required
Certifications
  • EVMS, Primavera P6 or COBRA preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
Required Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years estimating or project controls experience
  • A minimum of 1 years previous management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Experience in using other Microsoft Suite Products (Word, PowerPoint)
Required and Desired Skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Project controls management skills, including forecasting, scheduling and real-time operations
  • Strong written and verbal communications
  • Intermediate knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software and report preparation
  • Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge sufficient to pinpoint causes of deficiencies in achievement
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Access Database skills (preferred)
  • Intermediate skills with software such as P6, COBRA, ORACLE and EVMS
Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit
  • Ability to effectively communicate; speaking, reading, understanding, writing and hearing clear English; pass audiogram in hearing conservation program as required by location
