Job description


Job Description/Tasks/Responsibilities
  • Receives and ships various radioactive materials, analyzes shipments to assure proper completion of required documents, inspects shipments for compliance with DOT, EnergySolutions and customer requirements. Works with other departments to properly register material for shipment or processing in a timely manner.
  • Reviews all incoming shipping documents in preparation for acceptance, including an advanced review of Mixed Waste (MW) shipments.
  • Inspects all incoming shipments visually for proper marking, labeling and placarding.
  • Performs a radiation/contamination survey and visual inspection of container.
  • Enters data, accepts and tracks shipments in EnergySolutions waste tracking systems.
  • Works with generators and our business development department on resolving manifesting issues.
  • Completes shipping paperwork and packaging laboratory shipments for offsite analysis.
  • Completes all paperwork for waste generated at the site for storage or disposal, including properly blocking/bracing containers for transport and ensuring all markings, labels and placards are placed on containers.
  • Works under direct supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements/Skills
  • Strong knowledge of radiation instrumentation
  • Strong knowledge of radiation protections
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and kneel
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Ability to effectively communicate; speaking, reading, understanding, writing and hearing clear English; pass audiogram in hearing conservation program as required by location
  • Basic math skills; mechanical ability
  • Ability to perceive depth and adjust focus
  • Ability to see close and distance, basic colors/shades, and peripheral vision
  • Basic hand/eye coordination; ability to manipulate packages
  • Ability to wear protective equipment such as: goggles, ear plugs, hard hat, gloves, and steel toe boots
  • Forklift certified
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
Certifications
  • Must qualify as an EnergySolutions certified broker/shipper
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a radiation worker
Preferred Experience
  • None
