Job description

Position Summary

What will the work look like for me?
Your responsibilities in this role will include the following sales and relationship-building activities:
  • Develop and successfully execute a plan for selling profitable displays within the region. Will contact customers by personal visits which includes traveling phone and mail.
    • Plan and complete a daily and weekly sales presentation route of appointments and cold calls.
    • Promote Daktronics name and products to end user(s), architects, consultants, ad agencies, sign designers, and contractors.
    • Assist in getting Daktronics products specified whenever possible.
    • Develop an ongoing and sustainable relationship with end users, resellers, sign companies, subcontractors, and service providers to promote Daktronics products and services. Maintain a good relationship with established subcontractors.
    • Call on sign companies and promote Daktronics products and services.
    • Call on Daktronics customers within the region, sell additional products and services, and inquire about new leads, opportunities, or referrals.
    • Help in developing winning proposals and sales propositions of major accounts
  • Actively pursue all electronic display projects within the region. Assist team to secure the order or pull together the appropriate resources to secure the order.
  • Proactively follow up on new leads and customers. Promptly follow up on marketing campaign or trade show leads. Qualify leads to determine project viability. Assist with lead database management.
  • Understand the capabilities and operation of Daktronics products. Key product knowledge includes standard products, such as football, baseball, basketball scoreboards, message centers, and video displays.
  • Primary sales focus will be the Large Sport Venues. Will be expected to work all markets to promote and sell Daktronics products and assist with any sales or marketing efforts or required.
  • Continuously learn about Daktronics products by attending internal product and sales training and reviewing sales literature.
  • Work effectively as a team member. Work with limited daily supervision.

Where is this opportunity located?
Position located in Providence RI area but open to other locations in the region.
Qualifications
To be considered for Sales Representative, we require the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or similar. Will consider comparable post-secondary experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in advertising sales, marketing, athletic administration, and/or athletic business, a plus. Proven sales experience and customer relations expertise.
  • Must be willing to be a team player and learn about team selling.
  • Knowledge and interest in the sports industry; preferably collegiate sports, preferred.
  • Reasonable knowledge of Daktronics product line or demonstrated ability to learn technical products quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to develop and present winning presentation of Daktronics products and services and negotiate contracts favorable to Daktronics.
  • Self-motivated and a team player. Initiative to solve problems and seek improvement. Goal orientated with proven leadership capability.
  • May include evenings and weekends.
  • Strong knowledge of work processing programs, database technology (software and hardware), financial applications. Daktronics uses Microsoft Office Suit centralized literature, database maximize contact management software, and internal Internet database.
  • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • The selected individual must be able to travel by air and ground and comply with the Daktronics Driver Eligibility Policy to begin and maintain employment. This requirement will be verified through a motor vehicle record (MVR) check conducted in accordance with applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws.
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
