Job description

Partner Business Development Specialist
As a Partner Business Development Specialist, you are responsible for driving profitable growth for assigned OEM manufacturers(s) by acting as the technical and solution focused extension of the sales organization. This role bridges technical expertise and commercial execution, supporting sellers and customers by recommending optimal configurations, answering presales technical questions, and presenting solutions that align technology to business outcomes.
You are a trusted advisor to both sales teams and assigned OEM partners, bringing credibility, structure and momentum to complex opportunities. Success in this role is measured by revenue growth, pipeline health, deal velocity, and win rates across your assigned category and OEM portfolio.
This is a hybrid role with one day a week in Mississauga and one day a week in Markham
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Growth Execution
  • Conduct selling activities to achieve overall revenue goals for assigned OEM manufacturer(s) and solution categories.
  • Work on a shared open quote list with assigned sales associates, providing hands-on support to advance and close targeted opportunities.
  • Actively influence deal strategy by aligning technical configurations with customer business requirements and budget constraints.
Technical Overlay & PreSales Support
  • Serve as the technical overlay for defined OEM solutions and categories, providing presales technical guidance to both sales teams and customers.
  • Recommend optimal configurations and architectures that meet customer environment requirements while supporting margin and partner objectives.
  • Translate technical capabilities into clear, business relevant value propositions for technical and nontechnical audiences.
Pipeline, Forecasting & Deal Management
  • Maintain and provide regular pipeline updates, including quote tracking, order tracking, close ratios, open opportunities, and activity metrics.
  • Partner with sales leadership to identify stalled opportunities, unblock technical concerns, and improve conversion rates.
  • Support forecasting accuracy through disciplined opportunity qualification and ongoing deal inspection.
     
Partner & Internal Collaboration
  • Work closely with OEM partner teams, alliance management, and internal solution practices to align strategy, programs, and technical enablement.
  • Educate sales teams on OEM solutions, configurations, positioning, and differentiation relevant to active opportunities.
  • Act as a conduit between OEM technical resources and internal sellers to accelerate deal progression.
Customer Engagement
  • Participate in customer meetings as the technical authority supporting the sales team, engaging audiences ranging from technical practitioners to IT leadership.
  • Support solution presentations, workshops, and proof ofconcept discussions where technical validation is required.
Success Metrics
  • Achievement of assigned revenue growth targets
  • Pipeline growth, velocity, and close ratio improvement
  • Sales engagement and quote to order conversion rates
  • Effectiveness of technical recommendations in driving win rates
  • OEM partner satisfaction and alignment
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred, in technical or business arenas
  • 3+ years of experience in technology sales, presales, or technical overlay roles, preferably within OEM, reseller partner, or channel environments
  • Strong working knowledge of OEM infrastructure, endpoint and solution portfolios relevant to assigned category
  • Proven ability to support complex sales cycles through technical credibility and consultative selling
  • Comfortable working in a matrixed environment with sales, alliance, and technical stakeholders
  • Strong presentation and communication skills across technical and business audiences
 Why This Role Matters
This role is critical to ensuring that technical complexity accelerates deals rather than slows them down. By combining solution expertise with commercial discipline, the Technical Overlay enables sellers to move faster, sell smarter, and deliver better outcomes for customers and partners alike. 
Wage Range:  The annual starting salary for this position is between $60,000-80,000 annually.  Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Other Compensation: This position is also eligible for incentive compensation in accordance with the terms of the applicable Company plan.

  • Agir à titre de responsable technique pour les solutions et catégories OEM définies, en fournissant des conseils techniques de prévente aux équipes de vente et aux clients.
  • Recommander des configurations et des architectures optimales qui répondent aux exigences de l’environnement des clients tout en soutenant les objectifs de marge et des partenaires.

 Qualifications et expérience

  • Plus de 3 ans d’expérience en vente technologique, en prévente ou dans des rôles de soutien technique, idéalement dans des environnements OEM, partenaires revendeurs ou de distribution
  • Solide connaissance pratique des infrastructures OEM, des solutions de postes de travail et des portefeuilles de solutions pertinents à la catégorie assignée
  • Capacité démontrée à soutenir des cycles de vente complexes grâce à une crédibilité technique et une approche de vente consultative
  • Aisance à travailler dans un environnement matriciel avec des intervenants des ventes, des alliances et des équipes techniques
  • Excellentes compétences en présentation et en communication auprès d’auditoires techniques et d’affaires
