Description:

Under the supervision of the Parks & Recreation Director, manage and direct the functions and staff of the Recreation Division within the Parks & Recreation Department.

Duties:

  • Responsible for administrative duties of the Clyde Recreation Center including Front Desk, Child Watch, Fitness, and Aquatics.
  • Develop staffing and program schedules to best meet the needs of the community while remaining fiscally responsible.
  • Hire, train, motivate, schedule, and supervise full and part-time staff.
  • Assist, organize, and oversee programs, schedules, registration, and operating budget for Recreation.
  • Promote, advertise, and market all youth/adult programs for Recreation.
  • Supervise and assist/oversee operations of Clyde Recreation Center.
  • Develop and analyze pricing strategies to maintain the profitability of programs in Recreation.
  • Develop, conduct, and participate in training programs and necessary certifications for division employees, including safety and risk management.
  • Direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for staff; assign work activities, projects, and programs; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
  • Develop, plan, and implement new programs and services.
  • Develop, propose, and oversee operational budgets of the Clyde Recreation Center.
  • Plan, market, set-up, and oversee Special Events involving the Clyde Recreation Center, Recreation, and Springville City as assigned by the Parks & Recreation Director.
  • Oversee all rentals and special usage for the Recreation Center.
  • Have working knowledge of operation and maintenance of Clyde Recreation facilities and grounds.
  • Have working knowledge of operation and maintenance on Recreation, Aquatics, and Fitness Center equipment.
  • Have working knowledge of registration, membership, and survey software.
  • Per agreement with Nebo School District, coordinate and work with local schools relating to facility scheduling.
  • Interact with community on recreation issues involving parents, coaches, and participants.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the Parks & Recreation Director dealing with Clyde Recreation, and/or Recreation, or are deemed beneficial for Springville City.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Youth Leadership, Leisure Services, or related field.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years' experience in recreation programming.
  • Must have four (4) years of supervision experience required, or any equal combination of education/experience.
  • Must possess a valid Utah driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to supervise a large staff of full-time employees, part-time employees, and volunteers.
  • Must have knowledge and ability on all budgeting issues, equipment operation, and maintenance.
  • Must have knowledge and skills managing fitness and aquatics centers.
  • Must be able to interact and work well with the public.

Physical Demands:

Must be willing and able to spend the hours necessary to implement and carry out Recreation management and recreation center programs. Must be physically able to work in and around swimming pools, pool equipment, child watch, and fitness programming. Must be able to perform moderately heavy physical activity; required to push, pull or lift medium weights.Must be able to stand, walk, or sit uncomfortably.
