This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable with a minimum of three (3) days in the office per week.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Serve as a senior Agile leader responsible for facilitating, championing, and continuously improving the Lean Agile software development process across a cross functional, modernization focused environment.
• Maintain Agile team health and progress in Agile tracking tools, ensuring stakeholders have high quality, data driven visibility into progress, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Provide direct support to the RTE in multi-team release planning activities
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies including daily stand ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, reviews, and cross team coordination activities.
• Keep the team sharply focused on sprint and PI objectives by reinforcing priorities, managing competing demands, and ensuring alignment with broader program goals.
• Proactively line up "what's next" for each cross functional area-development, testing, architecture, business analysis, DevOps-by ensuring work is refined, understood, and ready for execution before the team needs it.
• Develop and maintain visual indicators (e.g., dashboards, Kanban systems, burndowns, dependency maps) that clearly communicate work status, flow, bottlenecks, and team health.
• Guide the team in using Agile metrics-such as velocity, throughput, cycle time, and quality trends-to drive continuous improvement, improve predictability, and strengthen delivery performance.
• Enable team and cross team collaboration, removing impediments quickly and supporting a culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous learning.
• Champion and optimize team performance as a whole by assessing team dynamics, identifying systemic issues, and coaching the team toward higher levels of maturity and autonomy.
• Provide hands-on coaching and mentoring in Agile principles, Scrum practices, and scaling methodologies, supporting both new and experienced team members.
• Support the Product Owner and team in maintaining a healthy product backlog, ensuring backlog items are well defined, estimated, and prioritized based on business value.
• Apply knowledge of SDLC, DevOps/DevSecOps, modernization, and operational environments to help plan, prioritize, sequence, and manage work effectively.
• Communicate risks, dependencies, and blockers to leadership while driving timely resolution in partnership with program, technical, and business stakeholders.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• BA/BS in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience leading and delivering Agile IT development projects, with demonstrated impact in fast paced, modernization or new build environments in large team environments
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification.
• Strong experience with Agile project management tools (JIRA, Rally, Azure DevOps).
• Exceptional leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to influence without authority and drive outcomes across cross functional groups.
• Proven interpersonal skills related to conflict resolution and negotiations.
• Proven ability to foster collaboration, manage team dynamics, and resolve conflicts constructively.
• A self starter with the ability to anticipate issues, multi task, and solve complex problems innovatively and independently.
• Experience managing and orchestrating Agile development and O&M teams in iterative delivery environments.
• Strong understanding of release management, sprint execution, dependency management, and Agile delivery at scale.
Desired qualifications
• Strong experience with cloud environments (GCP, AWS/Azure)
• Strong experience in application modernization patterns (API-first, microservices, containerization)
