Job description

Position Summary

The Lead is responsible for assisting the Supervisor with duties in the assigned production area while ensuring that job tasks, assignments, and rotations are followed.  The Lead will also be responsible for performing a variety of production focused tasks to support the daily production goals.

Essential Duties, Functions and responsibilities:

Follows direction of Supervisor to assign and instruct personnel of daily production duties.

Observes equipment operation, notifying appropriate personnel of any malfunctions and/or safety issues/concerns.

Provide accurate and timely feedback to supervisor regarding any issues or problems that may arise during daily production.

Helps coordinate daily set up of equipment to ensure the line is prepared to run on time.

Complete required checks and measurements, record accurately.

Assist in training and developing staff to ensure a quality product.

Assist with new hire ergonomic evaluations and performance evaluations.

Position is required to work before department start time in order to assist with area set-ups.

Accountable to maintain punctual and regular attendance for scheduled work hours.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Follows all safety, USDA, and GMP policies and guidelines.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions & policies.

Must be able to work in a team atmosphere and possess good leadership skills.

Must have working knowledge of all positions on the line.

Must be willing and able to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.

Must pass a background check, drug screen and pre-employment physical.

Some positions may require the ability to read, write, and/or speak English.  Bilingual in English/Spanish helpful.

Physical Requirements:

Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 65lbs or more).

Reaching overhead (up to and including 25lbs).

Operating hand held and/or mechanical machinery.

Walking/climbing stairs.  Gripping, grasping, and twisting using hands and wrists.

Bending and stooping for long periods of time.

Working Conditions/Department Description:

Department starts at 4:30 p.m. and works until processing is complete.  Overtime and weekend work may be required.

There is mandatory seasonal work for approximately 5 to 6 weeks during the months of October and November, which includes working 7 days per week.

Job assignments are subject to the supervisor’s discretion, and job duties may vary day-to-day depending on production needs.

May work in damp, cold, hot, and warm environments.

Work with loud and noisy machinery.

Work with or around chemicals/fumes/pungent odors.

Pay is base plus $1.05 job premium.
