Structural Analysis Engineer (Structural Analysis)

The Customer Support Operations Center within Boeing Commercial Aircraft (BCA) is seeking a skilled and detail-orientated Structural Analysis Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) to join the Boeing Operations Center 777-X and 24/7/365 team team in Seal Beach, CA. We are a team that supports all in-service Boeing commercial airplane models. These models include programs such as the MD-10, MD-11, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, and the 787. Team members have the opportunity to work on a variety of problems across different models and sections of the airplane.

The Boeing 777-9 is the lead variant of the 777X family, designed to deliver improved fuel efficiency, extended range, and enhanced passenger experience for long-haul commercial operations. It combines advanced aerodynamics, new-generation engines, and composite technologies to offer lower operating costs and reduced environmental impact compared with previous generation widebodies.

Key highlights:

  • New composite folding wingtips that increase wingspan in flight while allowing airport compatibility on the ground

  • GE9X engines (high-bypass turbofan) provide significant fuel-burn reduction and thrust for long-range operations

This position requires flexibility in work hours, but generally the work shifts adhere to a 7 days on and 7 days off schedule. Typically work days start at 12 AM and end at 12 PM or start at 12 PM and end at 12 AM.

The Boeing Commercial Airplanes Customer Support Operations Center is looking for a collaborative Structural Analysis Engineer who wants exposure to a variety of airplanes and issues. This individual will work with the structures team within the operations center to quickly address repairs for in-service aircraft and will have the opportunity to collaborate with other structures teams within Customer Support. A successful candidate will have the capability to develop repairs, communicate with multiple teams within and outside Boeing, provide mentorship to other engineers, and lead process improvements to provide high quality customer support.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops structural repairs on all Boeing and MD series models

  • Develops static and fatigue analyses for primary and secondary structures

  • Collaborates with customers via verbal and written communications

  • Communicates with Boeing and customer executive leadership

  • Performs review of customer requests and determine the best avenue for resolution

  • Provides repair solutions and approval forms to customers

  • Collaborates with multiple Boeing teams to develop repair solutions

  • Reviews outgoing customer messages to ensure content and quality

  • Initiates proactive repair solutions across the Boeing fleet

  • Analyzes and develops substantiation packages for repairs and/or fly-on limits

  • Researches technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer

  • Assesses incoming customer communications to resolve potential fleet safety issues

  • Helps customers keep their aircraft flying safely by addressing urgent "Aircraft On Ground" (AOG) issues

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

  • 5+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 9+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

  • 3+ years experience working with composite and/or metallic structures

  • 3+ years of aircraft design and/or repair experience

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and writing

  • Experience with Boeing aircraft data

  • Experience with CSW, IAS, and other BCA tools

  • Experience working with and supporting customers (e.g. Airlines, Operators, Lessors)

  • Prior experience with AOG resolution

  • Leading structural analysis teams

  • Damage Tolerance analysis
