PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $173,500.00-$211,900.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $135,100.00 - $250,600.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE:

As Director of Business Banking, you'll shape the future of how businesses experience BECU. You'll lead a high-performing C&I lending team while building meaningful relationships that help business members grow and thrive. Your leadership will influence how we connect, serve, and deliver value-bringing together strategy, service, and innovation to elevate the entire Business Services organization. By fostering strong partnerships internally and externally, you'll ensure that every interaction reflects BECU's commitment to excellence, community, and member success.

To join our dynamic team in this role, we require candidates to be residents of WA. This role will require some travel for meetings and events. In addition, if you're located in Washington state within a reasonable driving distance to our Tukwila Headquarters (TFC), we encourage you come into the office on Tuesdays & Wednesdays each week.For those candidates that live outside the commutable distance to TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be primarily remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead and Inspire Team Performance: Guide your team to achieve exceptional results in growing business member relationships while delivering outstanding service, engagement, and relationship management.
  • Drive Business Development: Empower your team to actively build and manage a strong pipeline through referral networks, consistent prospecting, and meaningful follow-ups that turn opportunities into lasting relationships.
  • Oversee Relationship Management Excellence: Lead efforts across business development, member engagement, credit selection, loan structuring, and portfolio risk management to ensure balanced, strategic growth.
  • Manage and Optimize the Portfolio: Build and oversee a business banking portfolio that delivers strong returns to members while maintaining operational excellence, policy adherence, and a seamless member experience.
  • Coach and Develop Talent: Invest in your team's success through ongoing coaching, mentoring, and feedback-helping individuals grow, perform, and reach their full potential.
  • Maximize Member Value: Champion cross-selling and referrals by connecting members with the right products and services, offering thoughtful solutions and timely support that meet their evolving needs.
  • Ensure Credit Quality and Risk Management: Maintain a high-quality loan portfolio by ensuring sound credit decisions, compliance with risk guidelines, and proactive monitoring of portfolio performance.
  • Contribute to Strategic Planning: Play a key role in shaping annual business plans, including membership growth, loans, deposits, and non-interest income to align with BECU's broader goals.
  • Strengthen Partner Ecosystems: Build and maintain relationships with key business partners across services like payroll, merchant services, treasury management, and investments-ensuring strong service delivery and collaboration.
  • Stay Ahead of Industry Knowledge: Maintain expertise in regulatory compliance, credit policies, financial principles, and business banking products to guide sound decisions and strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or equivalent work or educational experience.
  • 3 years of people leader experience with business banking relationship/sales teams.
  • 5 years of commercial credit and relationship management experience in small business - mid-sized commercial banking environment(s).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree.
  • Effective leadership, team building, coaching and personnel development skills.
  • Excellent sales and business development skills and proven ability to effectively manage sales for the achievement of individual team members and overall team goals.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills and understanding of product profitability and pricing analysis.
