Job description

Responsibilities

Altec is hiring a Marketing Specialist - Events and Tradeshows in Birmingham, AL. The purpose of this position is to lead the planning, execution and continuous improvement of Altec's corporate events and tradeshow program. This role serves as the enterprise subject matter expert for events, responsible for managing a full annual calendar of tradeshows and corporate events with significant budget accountability. The position requires strategic thinking, strong vendor and association relationships, and the ability to mentor and develop event personnel.


Major Responsibilities

  • Event Strategy & Execution – Plan, manage and execute a comprehensive calendar of corporate tradeshows and events, ensuring alignment with business objectives, brand standards and budget targets.

  • Budget Management – Own and manage the experiential events budget, including forecasting, vendor negotiations, contract management and post-event financial reconciliation.

  • Materials & Logistics – Oversee all event materials, booth assets, signage, promotional items and shipping logistics to ensure consistent brand representation across all events.

  • Association & Industry Relationships – Cultivate and maintain relationships with trade associations, show organizers and industry partners to secure favorable positioning, sponsorship opportunities and event intelligence.

  • Personnel Coordination – Supervise direct and indirect reports. Coordinate additional event support staff, contractors and cross-functional team members as needed.

  • Stakeholder Engagement – Partner with sales, product and business unit leaders to align event strategies with go-to-market priorities and customer engagement goals.

  • Continuous Improvement – Evaluate event performance through defined metrics and post-event analysis. Identify opportunities to improve ROI, attendee experience and operational efficiency.

  • Mentorship – Mentor and develop team members and event support personnel to build internal event management capability.

  • All other duties as assigned.


Education, Experience and Skills Required

  • Applicable bachelor's degree required.

  • 4 years minimum applicable experience required.

  • Applicable master's degree counts as one year of experience, not to exceed one year in total.

  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale corporate events, tradeshows or experiential marketing programs.

  • Proven ability to manage significant program budgets.

  • Strong vendor management, contract negotiation and logistics coordination skills.

  • Travel up to 50% required, including weekends during peak event periods.

  • This is a remote position with periodic in-office presence required based on business needs.
