Sound like a winning formula for you? **Join us!****JOB SUMMARY**Participates in the day-to-day functions of securing, directing, and promoting security and public safety in the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The Campus includes 6 Parking Areas, 2 food courts, 4 exhibit halls, 6 ballrooms, more than 50 meeting rooms within 2 million square feet of space. Responsible for the Public Safety Department. Plans and manages crowd control procedures for all events. Schedules and Supervises Public Safety Event staff and directs their duties as coordinated with Event Management. Responsible for overseeing, all events related Public Safety/Security Staff, which includes all Third party contractors.**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*** Perform regular and routine rounds of facility; noting and correcting unsafe or insecure conditions, and takes further and immediate action to correct conditions as needed* Complete detailed reports on activity during shift* Files written reports on incidents* Maintains daily log of activities* Verify all reports are filed in a timely manner and that all reports are accurate as to their content of facts* Direct visitors, deliveries and related personnel to proper areas, notifies related departments of visitor/delivery arrival/departure* Provide crowd management and assist with crowd movement* Follow established code of conduct and safety procedures* Challenge unauthorized personnel in restricted areas* Operate and monitor computerized fire alarm system and surveillance camera* Take appropriate action in the event of an emergency* Coordinates EMS needs with Local Fire Department or outside agency* Coordinates Law Enforcement needs with Columbus Police Special Duty Coordinator* Coordinates Fire Department needs with Columbus Fire Department* Coordinates Executive protection details with Local, State, Federal, and Private agencies* Assist with scheduling Public Safety Event Staff as coordinated with Show Management/Event Manager* Assist in new hire training* Maintain staffing levels as dictated by event needs* Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Public Safety Department* Supervise Public Safety Event Staff* Maintain a positive and proactive attitude.* Provide superior customer service. Ensure that direct reports receive the essential training so that they also provide superior customer service* Must have the ability to interact with guests in a friendly, courteous and polite manner. This will include initiating contact with guests within 10 feet – i.e. smiling, saying “Good Day” or helping when needed.* Attend Campus meetings, as applicable and needed.* Schedules Public Safety Event Staff as coordinated with Show Management/Event Manager based on Client needs or requests.* Prepare quotes for client approval.* Submit invoices to Events Department for payment from client.* Maintains staffing levels as dictated by event needs.* All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Assistant General Manager.Knowledge:Public Safety/Security Background, including but not limited to Law Enforcement, Military, Fire, or Emergency Medical Service Background. Event Coordination/Management from a Convention Center or similar venue.Job Requirements: (Some may not be required, but preferred)* High School Diploma/GED* Surveillance (CCTV) Skills, preferred but not required* Working knowledge of Security and Public Safety functions* Customer Service Techniques* Fire Alarm System* Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications* Must be able to always use a Two-Way radio* Must always maintain a professional appearance* Must be able to keep information confidential* Valid State driver’s License with no more than 4 points* Must be able to pass pre-employment Background check.* Must be able to work various shift schedules based on event needs. (Including but not limited to, nights, weekends, holidays and shift work.)*Required upon hire or within 120 days of hire if not certified.** NIMS Incident Management Level 1 (IML 1)* CPR, First Aid, AED *(maintain through employment)** Obtain security license under the Ohio Department of Public Safety *(maintain through employment)*Experience:* Minimum 6 years’ experience in Public Safety Field, including but not limited to Law Enforcement, Military, fire, Emergency Medical Service or Security* Minimum 4 years’ supervisory/field training supervisor experience in Public Safety field, including but not limited to Law Enforcement, Military, fire, Emergency Medical Service or Security (years may be combined)* Minimum 4 years’ supervisory experience in Convention Center or similar venue (years may be combined)Skills/Aptitudes: Must possess oral and written communication skills and be able to follow instructions; able to qualify under existing state security guidelines; physical ability to walk, climb steps, stand/walk for up to 8 hours; must be fluent in English language; must be willing and able to work with a wide variety of individuals from varying socioeconomic backgrounds; attention to detail; conflict resolution skills preferred.**Working Conditions****:** May be exposed to adverse weather conditions for long periods of time; ability to work flexible hours in addition to normal business hours as needed; must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs; must be able to stand for long periods of time.
