Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. (MSG Sports) is a leading professional sports company, with a collection of assets that includes the New York Knicks (NBA) and the New York Rangers (NHL), as well as two development league teams - the Westchester Knicks (NBAGL) and the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL). MSG Sports also operates a professional sports team performance center - the MSG Training Center in Greenburgh, NY. More information is available at www.msgsports.com.
Who are we hiring?
The Finance Manager is responsible for financial planning, analysis and reporting activities for MSG Sports. This individual will help coordinate the preparation of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and management reporting packages for certain areas of the Sports business while partnering closely with business leads to ensure accurate financial insights and variance analysis. The Finance Manager assists in the preparation of various league reporting requirements for the NBA, NHL, AHL and G-League.
What will you do?
  • Assist with compiling the annual budget and long-range planning, ensuring accurate inputs in financial planning tools in a detailed and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting team during month-end close process to ensure activities are accurately recorded and aligned with management reporting
  • Prepare analysis of monthly results and variance reporting packages. Requires a deep and detailed understanding of the business through frequent communication with business leads.
  • Assist in the completion of detailed forecasts and monthly outlooks.
  • Develop and enhance financial reporting capabilities and scalable FP&A processes
  • Assist in completion of all NBA, NHL, G-League and AHL financial reporting packages and surveys.
  • Assist with special projects / ad hoc requests assigned
  • Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.
What do you need to succeed?
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. CPA or MBA a plus, but not required
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in sports, entertainment, or media
  • Must have advanced Excel skills, experience in Oracle and Hyperion planning or similar financial systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and monthly analysis reporting.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Demonstrated flexibility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and be willing to change projects as needed.
  • High Energy and Commitment - must display a positive, confident assertive personality and be able to work on projects until completion.
