Job description

Who We Are

The New York City Muslim Center (NYCMC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and home to the largest Islamic Center in New York City. Our 60,000 sq. ft. facility impacts over 2,000 lives weekly, serving as the headquarters for:

  • NYCMC Wellspring Schools
  • NYCMC Uplift
  • The Jesus Son of Mary Mosque (JSMC)
  • NYCMC FKAD Institute

We don’t just run classrooms — we build environments where students grow academically, spiritually, and emotionally. Every role in our school contributes to shaping future leaders.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an Early Childhood / Childhood Teacher who understands something most people miss:

Early education isn’t babysitting.
It’s foundation-building at the most critical stage of life.

This is where confidence is built.
Where curiosity is nurtured.
Where identity begins.

You’re not just teaching ABCs and numbers.
You’re shaping how a child sees learning, themselves, and the world.

What You’ll Do

1. Build Strong Foundations

  • Teach core early learning skills (literacy, numeracy, motor skills)
  • Develop routines that build independence and confidence
  • Create structured, engaging lessons that keep young learners excited

2. Create a Safe, Nurturing Environment

  • Ensure students feel secure, valued, and supported
  • Build strong relationships with each child
  • Maintain a classroom that is calm, structured, and positive

3. Develop Social and Emotional Skills

  • Teach sharing, patience, communication, and respect
  • Help students navigate emotions in a healthy way
  • Reinforce positive behavior through consistency and modeling

4. Integrate Islamic Values Naturally

  • Introduce Islamic manners, duas, and basic concepts
  • Model kindness, respect, and gratitude
  • Build early love for Allah and Islamic identity

Who You Are

  • You have patience that doesn’t run out
  • You understand that young children learn through experience, not just instruction
  • You bring energy, structure, and warmth into the classroom
  • You see early childhood as the most important stage — not the easiest

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • 5+ years of experience working with young children (Pre-K / Elementary)
  • Strong classroom management and organization skills
  • Teaching Certification
  • Ability to create engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons
  • Alignment with Islamic values and school culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

What Makes This Role Different

At Wellspring, early childhood isn’t preparation for “real school.”

It is real school.

It’s where we lay the groundwork for everything that comes next — academically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Because when you build strong foundations,
you don’t just prepare children for school —
you prepare them for life.
