A FATCA job typically involves ensuring compliance with the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), which requires financial institutions to report information on foreign assets held by U.S. taxpayers. Professionals in this role may work in regulatory compliance, risk management, or financial reporting, helping institutions adhere to FATCA regulations. Responsibilities can include data analysis, reporting to tax authorities, and ensuring proper due diligence procedures are followed.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of someone working in FATCA compliance?

Professionals in FATCA compliance roles are responsible for reviewing account documentation, monitoring financial transactions, and ensuring accurate reporting to the IRS and other regulatory authorities. They may also perform due diligence on new and existing clients to identify U.S. reportable accounts and liaise with internal teams to address compliance gaps. Collaboration with legal, risk, and IT departments is common, as is staying updated on evolving FATCA requirements. This role often involves regular audits, process improvements, and clear communication with external regulators or auditors.

Job description

Are you seeking an exciting leadership role where you can guide a dynamic, expanding team in a fast-paced, technically complex environment? This position offers a unique chance to champion tax reporting excellence within our Security Services business, develop and mentor a high-performing team, and act as a senior technical expert in US tax withholding and information reporting.

As a Tax Manager in Securities Services, you will help us deliver accurate, timely, and audit-ready tax withholding and information reporting for our global custody business—work that protects our clients and supports the integrity of the financial system. You’ll be a subject matter expert on U.S. tax withholding and reporting requirements and global tax reporting regimes, including the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, the Common Reporting Standard, and U.S. Internal Revenue Code Chapters 3, 4, and 61. You’ll partner closely with the business to strengthen end-to-end reporting processes—from data sourcing and validation through controls, issue management, reconciliations, and filing deliverables (such as Forms 1042-S/1042, the 1099 series, and global tax reports). You’ll also use intelligent automation and analytics to improve data quality, reduce manual work, and help our team plan and execute year-end deliverables with confidence.

Job responsibilities
  • Serve as a key subject matter expert on FATCA, CRS, Chapter 3, and Chapter 61 withholding and reporting obligations as they apply to the Global Custody business
  • Leverage intelligent automation (e.g., workflow automation, rules‑based controls, and analytics) to maintain robust data hygiene and perform timely, accurate reconciliations of year‑end tax withholding and reporting outputs, ensuring completeness, consistency, and audit‑ready support.
  • Demonstrate strong end‑to‑end knowledge of the tax reporting lifecycle and operational process, including data sourcing, validation, controls, issue management, and filing deliverables (e.g., 1042‑S/1042, 1099 series, FATCA/CRS reporting)
  • Partner with the business to ensure reporting processes are executed accurately and on time
  • Optimize team capacity through proactive work planning and prioritization of key deliverables, balancing competing deadlines while escalating risks, bottlenecks, and resourcing needs in a timely manner to ensure on‑time execution and quality outcomes.
  • Advise on documentation requirements, withholding determinations, and reporting obligations
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance or a related field
  • 5+ years of tax experience, with a strong focus on US information reporting, withholding, FATCA, and CRS
  • Strong technical knowledge of IRS requirements under Chapters 3, 4, and 61, with a particular focus on the year end reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated track record of leveraging intelligent automation to streamline and standardize processes, enhance control effectiveness, and reduce manual touchpoints through measurable automation outcomes.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Prior experience in financial services, with specialization in global custody
  • Advanced knowledge of intelligent automation and analytics tools such as Alteryx, Python and similar platforms
