Job description

Position Overview

DIA packaging is seeking an experienced Buyer with a strong background in corrugated packaging to join our growing team. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing vendors for corrugated materials, custom packaging, and related supplies. This role is critical to ensuring a cost‑effective and reliable supply chain while maintaining high standards of quality and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source and purchase corrugated packaging, custom boxes, displays, and related materials.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and sales teams to forecast material needs.
  • Analyze market trends, material costs, and supplier performance to optimize sourcing decisions.
  • Collaborate with design, production, and logistics teams to ensure product specifications and delivery requirements are met.
  • Develop alternative suppliers and strategies to minimize supply risk.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, sustainability initiatives, and procurement policies.
  • Track and report on key performance metrics such as cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory turnover.
  • Assist with continuous improvement projects to optimize purchasing processes and reduce costs.
  • Support new product development initiatives by sourcing corrugated materials and prototypes.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing/procurement, with a strong background in the corrugated packaging industry.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Familiarity with different grades, flutes, coatings, and structural options of corrugated materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications related to packaging.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Quickbooks preferred, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience working with custom packaging projects and short lead‑time programs.
  • Knowledge of sustainability trends and recycled material sourcing.
  • Understanding of freight and logistics for domestic and international supply chains.
