Summary:
Under the direction of the Asphalt Plant Manager, the Asphalt Plant Project Coordinatoris responsible forthe day-to-day operations associated with asphalt plant supervision and asphalt production. In addition, they will be leading and coordinating projects related to the production of asphalt targeting increasing efficiency of operations.
Responsibilities:
Safety

  • Provide leadership and be a safety role model by promoting and enforcing safe work habits

  • Work with safety manager, aggregate managers and field personnel to enforce MSHA laws and regulations and promote safety within the organization

Quality Control

  • Analyze project technical specifications, create asphalt mix designs, and develop operational BMPs to ensure that the materials and processes meet project requirements.

  • Coordinate material testing with technical services and plant personnel during production.

  • Consistentlymonitortest results to ensure materials meet specifications and manage risks to avoid penalties and project delays.

  • Actively support continuous improvement initiatives tomaintainhigh quality standards for customers.

Asphalt Production/ Site Operations

  • Coordinate production demands, plant maintenance schedules, portable aggregate crush/wash needs, and all necessary personnel, equipment, and materials to ensure that operations run safely and efficiently.

  • Oversee all day-to-day asphalt production throughout the construction season. Direct & support plant personnel on development and implementation of the operations plans.

  • Review and process invoices related to plant operations, accurately assign costs to theappropriate plantsor projects, and conduct monthly cost reviews to ensure operational expensesremainwithinestablishedbudget.

  • Participate inrecruiting efforts byidentifyingstaffing needs,participatingin candidateselection, andfacilitatingthe onboarding process for new team members.

  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure new hires are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.

  • Collaborate withlandresources department to secure all necessary permits for asphalt plant operation.

  • Coordinate completion of necessary plant site work including site prep, inventory management, and site maintenance to ensure a clean, smooth, and professional operation.

  • Oversee necessary subcontractors performing work at asphalt plant facilities.

  • Lead and coordinate projects to increase operationalefficiencyincluding pursuing Energy Star certification at production facilities acrossWalbec.

  • All other projectsassignedrelated to asphalt plant operations.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil / Mechanical / Miningengineering or related field.

  • Must besafetyoriented including detailed knowledge of the OSHA/MSHA regulations,complianceand inspection process.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrateabilityto work both independentlyas well ascollaboratively in a team environment.

  • Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to travel locally and regionally.

  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills by prioritizing and managing multiple tasks and responsibilities concurrently.


Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience inasphaltor miningindustry.

  • HCSSHeavyJobandHeavyBidsoftware experience.

  • AutoCAD or similar design software experience.

  • Prior experience in planning, scheduling, and supervising production shifts.

  • Prior experience in managing subcontractors.
