POSITION SUMMARY
The All Systems Distributor oversees the distribution of water to customers, and in turn ensures that customer's meters are read so payment is made. This position is focused in the Klamath and Weitchpec areas and servers all 6 public water systems currently operated by the Yurok Tribe. This person filling this position will be available for emergency response, 24 hours/day, and seven days/week. This position needs to maintain contact with customers to perform regular preventative maintenance. May include working in all weather conditions, during all hours of the day. Physical demands include but are not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching, sitting, typing, walking, reading, writing, color determination, and speaking and listening for extended periods of time.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist Water Operators as needed.
2. Assists in the preparation of project specifications for repairs and improvements as may be required.
3. Assist in training new employees.
4. Available for emergency response, 24 hours/day, seven days/week.
5. Follows established policies and procedures in repairing equipment to ensure proper working order.
6. Interacts with customers and act as a representative of the Yurok Tribe.
7. Interacts with other Tribal departments and outside agencies as necessary and appropriate with guidance from supervisors.
8. Operates company vehicles and equipment according to established safety procedures and policies.
9. Participates in the installation, repairs and replacement of water mains, water services, valves, fire hydrants and water meters.
10. Participate in routine maintenance activities such as system flushing, valve exercising and fire hydrant maintenance.
11. Performs collection activities of delinquent accounts.
12. Performs meter reads, turn-ons/shut-offs, field investigations, places door hangers.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
14. Responsible for the submission of all purchase requests for repair parts and equipment for buildings and grounds maintenance to the Water Superintendent.
15. Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
1. G5: Highschool diploma or GED with three years of job specified experience.
2. Employees must be willing to acquire any special certifications or attend any training that is determined to be relevant or become required of the position in the future.
3. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Able to exercise sound independent judgment within established guidelines and protocol.
2. Ability and Willingness to work independently for meter reads.
3. Ability to read water meters and record the usage.
4. General knowledge and practice in finding and repairing water leaks.
5. Skill and experience in functioning as a member of a team.
6. Must be willing to travel frequently on the remote areas of the Yurok Reservation.
7. Recognition that in order to serve Yurok People one must know as much as possible about Yurok history, culture and values.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
