Boys amp; Girls Clubs of Elkhart County have been changing children’s lives for over 65 years! We have opportunities to mentor youth by assisting with program activities and creating on-going relationships. This role focuses on activity and program support at our school based KidsCare location.
Job Summary:
The Youth Development Professional plays an important role in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for youth ages 5–12 participating in KidsCare programming. This position supports the implementation of high-quality programs and activities that promote youth development, academic success, social-emotional growth, healthy lifestyles, and positive relationships.
The Youth Development Professional actively engages youth in daily programming, fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment, and helps create meaningful experiences that support each child’s sense of belonging, competence, usefulness, and influence.
Hours amp; Schedule
  • Part-time, 19.17 hours per week
  • Monday through Friday 1:40pm -5:30pm

Duties amp; Responsibilities:
Youth Supervision amp; Safety
  • Actively supervise and engage youth throughout daily program activities, maintaining full visibility and awareness of members at all times.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all members by enforcing Club expectations, monitoring behavior, and maintaining clean, organized, and hazard-free program areas.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to injuries, emergencies, behavioral concerns, and safety situations in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Support safe transitions, routines, and structured supervision in indoor and outdoor environments.

Program Delivery amp; Youth Engagement
  • Support the implementation of fun, creative, and educational activities that encourage learning, teamwork, personal growth, and positive youth outcomes.
  • Utilize Youth Development Strategies to foster members’ sense of belonging, competence, usefulness, and influence.
  • Create positive interactions and meaningful experiences that support youth development and engagement.
  • Encourage participation and help create an inclusive environment where all youth feel welcomed, valued, and supported.

Relationship Building amp; Positive Culture
  • Model and reinforce positive behavior, respect, responsibility, and inclusion.
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with members, families, coworkers, and school personnel to support a positive Club experience.
  • Contribute to a welcoming, team-oriented environment that reflects the mission and values of Boys amp; Girls Clubs of Elkhart County.

Administrative Support amp; Professional Development
  • Assist with attendance tracking, recordkeeping, program documentation, and other assigned administrative tasks.
  • Participate in required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational expectations, safety requirements, and program procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Bilingual Preferred
  • Demonstrated competence working with youth ages 5-12.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player with high energy and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to move continuously throughout program areas (walking figure-8 patterns, bending, kneeling, reaching) for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to visually and audibly monitor children in variety of settings (indoor and outdoor)
  • Ability to maintain composure and make quick, sound decisions in emergency or behavioral situations
  • Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist, and ability to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects up to 20lbs.
