Job description

Title: Yogurt Handler
Reports to: Production Manager
Location: 759 Hicks Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231
Type: Part-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Status: Non-Union
Rate: $18.00 / hour
Position Summary: The Yogurt Handler is an important member of our team, assisting the production team in the careful extrusion of our delicate yogurt from heavy machinery ,, high levels of sanitation and maintaining our exacting level of quality throughout our factory. Working with a great team of dedicated artisanal crafters, this candidate is tasked with assisting in the morning preparation of our high quality yogurts and products including: extruding yogurt from our yogurt pasteurizing machines, cleaning and assembling the pasteurizing machines for a quick turn around, and preparing the vats for our yogurt makers to make our high quality yogurts while maintaining a clean working environment.
Position Schedule:
  • Monday - Friday
  • 6:00 AM - 11:00 AM (5 Hours/Day)

General Responsibilities:
  • Learn & follow specific step-by-step instructions in the vat extrusion production process while maintaining a high level of care in designated tasks
  • Maintain a high level of sanitation throughout production facility to ensure food safety and longevity of product
  • Maintain an organized and clean workspace to ensure maximum efficiency and safety
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner designated by production procedures and management
  • Assist production staff as needed by helping prepare products for packaging and delivery.
  • Support general factory upkeep, including removing trash and recycling from all receptacles.
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the facility by mopping, sweeping, or vacuuming common areas such as the employee lunchroom, restrooms, offices, warehouse, and production spaces.

Specific Tasks:
  1. Follow standard operating procedures to properly extrude yogurt from our (3) 80-gallon vats:
    • Properly store extruded yogurt as per food safety guidelines
    • Follow proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures
    • Maintain a high level of caution and delicateness when working in the vat room
    • Refill vats with milk to prepare for next production run
  2. Maintain a high level of sanitation and organization:
    • Hand wash and sanitize all equipment and surfaces during and between each step of production
    • Maintain order and organization of equipment, supplies and ingredients throughout production facility and warehouse space
    • Follow food safety guidelines regarding product temperature throughout production
    • Maintain a high level of personal hygiene in production utilizing proper handwashing technique and use of provided gloves, hairnets, linens, etc.

Physical Requirements & Expectations:
  • You are expected to be able to work alongside the rest of the team, demonstrating proper & safe operational technique as outlined in training.
  • We expect you to show up on time and remain on site during your scheduled shift
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 4 consecutive hours.
