Job description

TITLE: Intern - Marketing & Communications Intern


LOCATION: History Center - 345 W Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55102

COMPENSATION: Typical starting salary $16.50 hourly


HOURS: This is a part-time, temporary position from approximately September 14, 2026 to December 20, 2026. A part-time intern must be available to work 12 hours per week. This position offers a flexible work schedule, coordinated with the internโ€™s school schedule and operational needs.


POSTING DATE: June 26, 2026


DEADLINE DATE: July 14, 2026


SEMINAR EVENTS: Interns are required to participate in three, in-person seminars focused on professional development, learning how cultural organizations operate, and building a network of industry professionals. At the end of the semester, interns complete a final presentation to share their work.

DESCRIPTION: The Marketing & Communications intern will support the Integrated Marketing Department with promoting MNHS events, sites, and exhibits through assisting with writing and researching media business, tracking media coverage, and coordinating with MNHS departments on promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, and website updates.


RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Tracking media coverage of MNHS; 2) Occasional on-site coordination of media interviews; 3) Assisting with writing for media alerts and marketing materials; 4) Social media ideation and execution, 5) making website updates, including calendar events; 6) Learning from seasoned marketing professionals.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student, or have graduated within the past 12 months at the time of application.

  • Ideal candidates might be currently pursuing, or a graduate with a degree in the following areas: Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism

  • The ideal candidate has 1-3 years of classroom experience in public relations, marketing, and/or journalism. They should possess basic understanding of marketing principles, but do not need extensive experience prior to this internship.
