Job description

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead continuous improvement initiatives, data management, and operational excellence within our SSL (Space Simulation Lab) operations. This role combines hands-on process improvement, data analytics, visual management, and operational leadership to drive performance and efficiency across the facility.
Key job responsibilities
Continuous Improvement & Kaizen Leadership
Lead and facilitate kaizen events focused on workflow optimization and waste elimination
Implement and sustain 5S methodology across the operational area
Identify opportunities for process improvements through gemba walks and direct observation
Drive standardized work practices and document best practices
Coach associates and leadership on continuous improvement principles and tools
Data Analysis & Performance Management
Analyze chamber performance metrics using SQL queries and data visualization tools
Extract, transform, and analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Create dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators
Provide data-driven recommendations to leadership for operational decisions
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of improvement initiatives
Visual Management
Design and implement visual management systems in collaboration with supervisors and managers
Develop and maintain performance boards, metric displays, and standard work documentation
Ensure visual controls are current, accurate, and actionable
Train team members on interpreting and utilizing visual management tools
Continuously improve visual communication methods across the operation
Operational Leadership & Supervision
Serve as backup supervisor during absences, breaks, or high-volume periods
Support day-to-day operational execution and problem-solving
Provide leadership and direction to associates when filling supervisory role
Ensure safety, quality, and productivity standards are maintained

Support capacity planning and resource allocation activities
Coordinate with cross-functional teams on improvement projects
Track and document action items from operational reviews
