Job description

The World Wide Grocery Private Brands team is looking for a Packaging Manager to join our team. The Packaging Manager will engage with internal and external resources to support new Amazon Grocery products, identify and execute optimization projects that can reduce damage or improve the customer experience, drive packaging free cash flow initiatives, unlock critical growth, deliver sustainability solutions, and develop processes that increase team efficiency.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate bias for action, think big, ownership, deliver results, and have strong customer empathy. This candidate will have experience diving deep to gain customer insights, launching successful new products, and developing strong relationships with project stakeholders. The candidate will possess attention to detail, excellent communication skills, the ability to drive consensus across multiple stakeholders and be a great team player. The ability to work independently and deal with an ambiguous environment is a must.

The primary responsibilities of the Packaging Manager will include:
- E-commerce packaging optimization - deep diving packaging components with suppliers for continuous improvement to develop more robust solutions for packaging performance to our customers
- Driving packaging improvements with the business and across cross-functional stakeholders.
- Commercialization tasks for new product launches, including dieline collection and review.
- Working with third party co-packers to identify areas of opportunity for packaging consolidation or introducing innovative packaging solutions
- Perform lab testing with the ability to translate and articulate overall impact and opportunities that drive value for the business.
- Analyzing customer needs and feedback to develop optimal product packaging, leveraging the unique opportunities being an online brand can provide.
- Developing outer packaging and shippable containers appropriate for ecommerce - reducing shipping costs, ensuring undamaged product, and minimizing waste for consumers.
- Continually find ways to drive cost out of our packaging efforts.
- Developing new packaging innovations that unlock new areas of opportunity for us.
- Leading and coordinating design efforts between internal teams and outside vendors to develop optimal packaging solutions.
- Creating conceptual drawings or working with vendors to create conceptual models for packaging designs
- Evaluating vendor prototypes and providing improvements/suggestions or alternative solutions
- Advising senior management on the latest packaging trends and optimal solutions.
- Maintaining accurate specifications for packaging materials and procedures.
- Providing technical support for root cause analysis of customer complaints related to packaging.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in product, program, or project management in leading cross-functional teams in delivery of major new products or services
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel (macros, pivots, lookups) at an advanced level
- 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to drive improvements
- 3+ Years of packaging development and project management experience.
- In depth knowledge of packaging materials and testing procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience in project management including resource planning, managing schedules, reporting project status and prioritizing tasks
- 3+ years of process improvement procedures experience
