Equipment Engineer - Packaging
Industry: Sterile Pharmaceutical ManufacturingLocation: Woodstock, IL - Onsite
Contract: 6+ months durationwith strong potential for extensions
Role Summary
Automated Systems, Inc. (ASI) is seeking an Equipment Engineer - Packaging to support capital projects and equipment improvements at our client's pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, a contract manufacturer of sterile liquid products, located in Woodstock, IL. The facility's primary unit operations include compounding, blow-fill-seal (BFS), and secondary packaging, including serialization.
The Equipment Engineer - Packaging will be responsible for specifying, procuring, installing, and commissioning new manufacturing equipment and upgrades to existing equipment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Developequipment requirements, specifications, scopes of work, cost estimates,and project schedules.
  • Evaluateequipment options, obtain vendor quotations, and support technical andcommercial bid reviews.
  • Coordinateequipment design, fabrication, factory acceptance testing, delivery,installation, and startup.
  • Manage upgradesand modifications to compounding, BFS, packaging, serialization, andsupporting equipment.
  • Coordinateequipment layouts, utility requirements, controls integration, safetyreviews, and construction activities.
  • Lead orsupport FAT, SAT, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance testing.
  • Workwith Validation and Quality to support risk assessments, change controls,qualification, and GMP documentation.
  • Coordinatevendors, contractors, Operations, Maintenance, Automation, Quality, and Engineeringpersonnel.
  • Ensureequipment complies with applicable safety, regulatory, operational, andmaintainability requirements.
  • Completeequipment turnover, including drawings, manuals, spare-partsrecommendations, training, and maintenance documentation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor'sdegree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or a related engineeringdiscipline.
  • Five ormore years of equipment or project engineering experience inpharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing.
  • Experiencespecifying, procuring, installing, and commissioning production equipment.
  • Workingknowledge of GMP requirements, change control, commissioning, andequipment qualification.
  • Strongproject coordination, vendor-management, troubleshooting, andcommunication skills.
  • Experiencewith sterile manufacturing, BFS technology, liquid compounding, packaging,or serialization is preferred.
