Description: World Language Spanish Teacher - job code 30605
Terms of Employment: 10 Month Employee (temporary if hired after contractual start date for teachers)
Reports to: Building Principal
Minimum Qualifications:
- Teacher of World Languages - Spanish Grades K-12
- Meets certification requirements of the State of Delaware for secondary Spanish (World Language).
- Strong content knowledge of secondary Spanish.
- Successful completion of Praxis II exams.
- Teacher who is designated Highly Qualified in Secondary World Language preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach Spanish to students in grades 6-8
- Works cooperatively with all staff and parents
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
- Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's mission statement.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
- Establish and maintain open basis of communication with students, parents, staff and administration.
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day consistent with contract obligations.
- Performs other duties as assigned
