About The U.S. Real Estate Asset Management Team

The U.S. Real Estate Asset Management team's purpose is to maximize the value of the U.S. Real Estate portfolio through hands on asset management and to provide detailed, accurate and actionable reporting, thereby providing leverage to the overall platform. The U.S. Real Estate team is responsible for generating strong risk-adjusted returns by investing in platforms, portfolios, individual assets and loans across sectors (the investment process is led by the deal team). U.S. Real Estate is a strategic area of focus for Sixth Street, and this role is an opportunity to join a fast-growing team and partner in the expansion of a priority business line.

The Role

This is a full-time associate role based in Dallas, San Francisco or New York City. This role will specialize in U.S. Real Estate, report to the Head of Asset Management for U.S. Real Estate and collaborate with members of the U.S. Real Estate team on the asset management of its portfolio.

Core Responsibilities
  • Understand and take an ownership view of the assets/positions, markets and business plans for each investment
  • Carefully monitor positions, reviewing borrower/partner reporting and flagging key issues
  • Key point of contact for operating partners/borrowers/service providers for day-to-day asset management
  • Actively participate in standing calls with partners/borrowers for each investment/position
  • Perform ad hoc analysis for key asset management decisions (approvals, leasing, capex, modifications)
  • Drive and coordinate internal operations processes (cash management, recommending and processing distributions and contributions, draw review and processing for construction deals, coordinate document review/negotiation/execution)
  • Drive quarterly firmwide processes - Valuation Committee, Portfolio Review, (senior asset management and deal team members to review and approve valuations/materials)
  • Assist with setting up key asset management processes on the front end of new investments/originations

Preferred
  • At least 3 years of proven experience originating/investing in and/or asset managing commercial real estate equity (and/or credit) positions across a variety of asset classes

  • Ability to perform analysis, frame-up complex scenarios and provide clear and substantive recommendations
  • Strong proficiencies in Excel and Argus
  • Outstanding initiative and comfort being a self-starter
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a high-volume environment
  • Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Structured problem solver who is able to synthesize sophisticated information from a variety of sources into implementable recommendations and solutions

Compensation

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $120,000 and $150,000. The base salary offered to the selected candidate will be commensurate with a candidate's relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by Sixth Street in its sole discretion.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and a competitive benefits package. Benefits offered currently include health, life, long-term and short-term disability insurance and a 401(k) plan. In addition, this role is eligible for paid public holidays (NYSE calendar), paid sick days pursuant to local laws, and additional reasonable time off subject to manager approval.

If a job offer is extended for a location other than Dallas, New York or San Francisco, the salary range may differ based on the location.
